Full story: Brattleboro Reformer

After impassioned pleas from gay and lesbian legislators sharing their own love stories in front of hundreds of partisans packing the chamber, the Vermont House on Thursday advanced a bill that would allow same-sex couples to marry.

"This to me is not about religion, civil rights or the institution of marriage," Hube said. "This to me is about being true to a set of principles. People should have the opportunity to make choices and have control over their own lives."

God Bless You, Rick Hube.

And shame on you, Sonny Audette. President Kennedy said he wouldn't put his church above the governing of this country and neither should you. You would have us all serve your master.

Same sex marriage will be a reality soon. Right always prevails. Eventually we won't have to say "same sex marriage" but simply "marriage". We don't refer to "opposite sex marriage", do we?

The reality is that this bill will be vetoed by the Govenor and there won't be enough votes to overcome the veto.

People like Sonny Audette should not be legislating if they cannot separate religious motivations from their duties as representatives in a secular government.

The people who voted for Rep. Albert "Sonny" Audette voted for him, NOT the pope! If he cannot separate his church from his legislative duties then he should step down or be impeached! What a shameful man!

You actually think a book that says things like this is from God?

Exodus 21: 28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay the girl's father fifty shekels of silver.[c] He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.

I'm so glad the Governor understands that gay marriage is such a fundamental, important issue that it deserves to be given time to be voted on by the people of Vermont. His veto will hopefully insure that a process is put in place to allow the people of Vermont to have their voices heard on this issue at the ballot box.

The Old Testament isn't God's Word? Why don't you actually address the point and explain how at any time God could have condoned slavery and slave-beating.

Oh, I just realized, I screwed up my previous post, mixing up two verses. Here's both of them.

Exodus 21:20 "If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies as a direct result, he must be punished, 21 but he is not to be punished if the slave gets up after a day or two, since the slave is his property.

Deuteronomy 22:28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay the girl's father fifty shekels of silver.[c] He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.

Feel free to explain how either of them could have ever at any time come from the Omnipotent Creator of this entire Universe.

God had the free will to put damaging barbaric directives in his literal word?

What????

Why don't you just be honest and say you can't explain why those verses would be there.

And exactly how is that an explanation for a verse among a list of directives for man given from God through Moses, that says it's okay to beat your slave so severely that they can't even pick themselves up off the ground for a day or two...no punishment required for the slavemaster.

How does "God gave man free will" explain that when other directives given through Moses say things like the punishment for working on the Sabbath is death?

In case you forgot, the verse was Exodus 21:20-21

Daily Horoscope for December 18

Aries

You'll be in a better position to get on well with someone who has power or authority over you. This might be your boss, some other authority figure, a friend you really respect or an older relative. Maybe you should chat up your superiors at the office Christmas party... or make more of an effort to understand what makes a certain person tick.
