Golden Eagle Martial Arts Bryan, Ohio

I am just curious if anyone else has trained at this place only to find out that absolutely no one will accept any rank they give out? My child was there and got to his intermediate rank. We had to move away and ended up in Columbus, Ohio. Every single school we went to would not recognize any rank from this school and most of them said they taught a fake system and had no real certifications. Has ony else faced this yet?

I know the guy who runs the place is always in trouble with the law. While I don't know what exact system he teaches, I heard it was similar to Chun Kuk Do, which is actually the art trasformed by Soke and Master Chuck Norris.
Since I am still in the area, I will see what I can find out for you. There are so many versions of karate out there anymore though, many of the traditional schools are against splinter versions. I have trained in mixed martial arts, have a bb in Combat Karate, but know many traditional dojo's won't accept my bb, even though it is credentialed.
Again, I'll see what I can find out and get back with you if I hear anything. My question to the other instructors, why not allow your child to test to his belt level and prove his worthiness?

The system they teach is some form of Tae Kwon Do that is totally made up and is nothing like nor has anything to with Chuck Norris...where do people get that info? It is not a real system of martial art at all. That is one of my main complaints...why do they teach some hodge podge crap? We enrolled our child in a traditional Karate school here in Columbus and they asked us why in the world didn't we chose Franz Karate to train at...we are now asking the same thing. It cost only $10 more per month and had we known that he was the real deal we should of signed up. I guess you live and learn huh. What did amaze us is that the Franz place is well known and respected even down here in Columbus...boy were we stupid in chosing the cheaper place.

That place just sucks....I would never recommend it to anyone at all and yes the Franz Karate place rocks...I went to Golden Eagle first, then switched and it was night and day. Sorry to hear about your issue with your child but I would recommend that you just have them start over in a legitimate place this time.

This forum is CRAP! I know for a fact that all of this is a lie. DO NOT ALWAYS BELIEVE WHAT YOU READ!!!! Most of it is lies. The Golden Eagle is a very legit place and i don't know where you got your info but it is incorrect. I do not believe that you or any of the rest of you have gone to that school, if you had you would have nothing to say, except good things. The people there teach a way to defend ones self, and not some style that is not respected. So that right there folks is why you all have faulty information.

I am a student at that school and I do not approve of your message. Golden Eagle Martial Arts is all that stands between me and a wheelchair! we have great work outs and honor!!!!! P.S. I PERSONALY treanfered to another school when I was FORCED to by moving away and the other school excepted my rank!!!!! I am glad to be back I've never gone to a better school!!!!!!!!!!

Oh its me Elm

I was doing a search for my paper for my karate class and came across this topic. Although I do not train at Golden Eagle I did check them out before I signed up at Franz Karate. The Hussey's are nice people and even Master Franz agrees on that one. My reasons for chosing not to train there were because I didn't like that their system was all sport based. I wanted an authentic / traditional system and Master Franz was the clear choice. That being said Golden Eagle teaches a mixed system that was made by Greg Kieffer who, as the one poster stated, is always in trouble with the law...but that not is not Larry Hussey. Even though their system was made up and came from a lineage under Mayle, who was in fact never really able to prove he actually had a black belt either, they are good peeps in my opinion.

Golden Eagle has spoken badly about Master Franz and his school for three years now yet Master Franz just laughs it off because he could care less what they think...but yet he doesnt react by bashing them like that one guy did so I seriously doubt that is one of the students at our dojo.

As far as being a system that is respected...well what they teach is not well known outside of their own little organization and Hussey has not been in martial arts long enough to be well known / respected by his peers. Only time will tell on that one. I did get a chuckle out of this and can't wait to tell Master Franz about this silly post but I am sure he will just not care since has nothing to do with learning martial arts at all.

Also why does this state I live in Dublin? It also says the poster who claims to train there lives in columbus, in...this is too weird.

Did anyone else see that picture in the paper of Golden Eagle? They claimed their event had people from all over the tri-state area but in reality there was like 40-50 people at best and most of them from Ohio. The lies just keep growing from this school and personally I am sick of it. They teach a made up system of sport karate developed by Greg Kieffer. Hussey has never been good at the martial arts nor is he a good instructor. They just kept making "big" claims, downright lies and more when I trained there and I got sick of it. Sorry but I would never recommend this school for anyone at anytime.
