According to a couple of neighbors who live Very close to the house, the newer residents have a reputation, which I do not know is correct or not, as being a gang hangout. There have been many large parties over the last few years resulting in much trash on neighbors yards, broken liquor bottles in the street, public urination, and loud 'gang style shouting' (a neighbor's phrase) and new graffiti seen on following mornings. The neighbors told me that they didn't call the police on most of these activities so they wouldn't antagonize the current residents of the corner house. I believe that if they had complained as loud as the parties, perhaps the apparent gang activities would have found another location. I think that we Montebello residents should be less tolerant of local activities which attract gang members. I hope that people from the 'large family party' were able to tell the police the names of the combatants, or to supply them with pictures taken at the party. At least, some of the many, many people who saw the shooting should be able to help to produce drawings of the suspects. One of the characteristics of gang parties is that when someong gets shot, or beaten, no one sees or knows anything. A preliminary report is that one small group of gang members already at the party told another small group of gang members that they weren't welcome. The second group gathered more people and returned with at least one gun and shot into the crowd. If your neighbor lies down with dogs, the fleas may jump on your yard. The papers said that there was much gradditi in the area. They were right. If graffiti is tolerated by residents, then gangs can come to the conclusion that the neighborhood accepts them. The city of Montebello gives free paint and graffiti removal spray to any resident that they believe will use it. Call Norma Salinas at Montebello City Hall to get it. Gangs can be resisted if there is a will to do so. These shootings are examples of what will happen when resistance is low. It is not wnough to grieve for the dead. There needs to be an understanding of why they were murdered, and how to reduce the possibility of future murders.

i was in a ride along that that it was crazy i was only able to see the dead son and the wonded lady... it was fun looking after the bad guy... who heard about the murder on 4th of july in 1321 Greenwood and Oakland the suspect was from South Side Montebello and the Victim Was from Paramont 13

Hey Mr. or Mrs. Webmaster. Can we leave the mayor of LA, the crips and bloods out of this post? It obviously attracts moronic googlers of these words, and not those concerned with the people of Montebello. I can also do without support of fans like superduper.

All of you who were there can go ahead and make it seem like everyone at the party was innocent. I know it was a messed up hit and trust those two who passed were a total accident but im sure as you've heard some guys from the party beat up 3 young kids badly and that alone was wrong. And just to let everyone know the young kid in custody wasnt the shooter... he wasnt even at the shooting.

They went to a friends graduation party, where family members were only invited and becuase some punk ass kids had their feelings hurt because they werent alowed to join the party that gives them the right to go and shoot up the damn place. i was going to my in laws that day and i do remember going pass this house and yes there was gang members out side of your party.
