I'm going to miss Kalisa terribly. She was a close friend of my mom's (mom has been gone 21 years). I grew up under the wings of women like Kalisa here on the peninsula. They were/are a dying breed. Strong, intelligent, loving, compassionate... Kalisa you will be missed.

Kalisa, Kalisa we miss you so... All the Dancers, Musicians, Entertainers, onlookers, your many audiences, Family, friends and so, so much more. Words are not fitting to bestow your proper accolades. A Queen so loved. We hope to do a good memorial show at the Wave Street Studios... The Flute Player to the Belly Dancers and You, Poet, Scientist and your faithful Co-Host, KW.

Kalisa was an amazing woman. My friend Ernie and I spent one Halloween night in her place, and met and sang back-up for an impromptu version of "The Monster Mash" with Lonesome George Thorogood. One of The Paper Wing Theatre's crowning moments was when she attended last year's "The Rocky Horror Show". We treated her like royalty, which she was.

Kalisa's passing is indeed a milestone. The peninsula has lost a true character. We would often go to her place late on cool evenings for coffee. I remember one time telling her that I recalled seeing her around Monterey in the 1960s in her big dark green Bentley. Her face just lit right up at hearing that and she responded: "Thank you for remembering, darling!" My best to her family and thanks for the memories.

Same here... don't why it says I'm in Hayward -- I live in Santa Cruz! |
