I believe that Heritage Harbor is actually owned by the Packard Foundation, and not the Aquarium. Now, is there really much of a difference between the Packard Foundation and the Aquarium? You tell me....

One more French-themed bistro in Carmel? Yeah, good luck with that.

I believe that the Packard Family(Julie Packard) owns the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The Packard Foundation(A charitable organization) is also basically controlled by the Packard Family as well where they sit on the Board Of Directors. For example, The Packard Foundation gave a very large sum of money to fund the renovation of the California Theater in San Jose, to promote the arts in San Jose(Opera, etc).

Fresh Cream is one of the most consistently superior restaurants on the peninsula. And with so many great restaurants that is really saying something. They have top notch service as well as food that is beyond superior. I look forward to seeing them in their new location. Too bad they can't open sooner!

Given Fresh Cream's reputation hereabouts, I find it surprising that most of the business came from corporate events. But I can see why parking was an issue. The Carmel location won't have a view, which was one of Fresh Cream's best selling points. Now they'll have to compete on quality and price like everyone else.

Well whoever the owner is, whatever. I agree with Mr. Toy "a prom date restaurant" Fresh Cream with no view and now compeating with esyablished big guns, good luck. The prices will have to be cut by 75% to stay alive. With that sort of return you can bet, the owner will be putting in some serious hours. So much for tee time. If all that stuff is true, it will be interesting to see if this guy can do it without the help.

I have frequented Fresh Cream since Robert Kinkaid started it on Cannery Row three decades ago. As I stated before, Steve Chesney ran Fresh Cream into the ground by taking money out without working for it and never reinvesting back into the restaurant and no business and especially a restaurant can survive that kind of neglect.

Chesney only had 24% of the business and he used the economy as an excuse to swindle his ex-wife and her parents out of the rest of the shares so he could own the business without paying for it.

Chesney treated his ex-wife and children with the same selfish detachment and neglect as he did Fresh Cream, it was only a paycheck for him which cost his ex-wife’s parents much anguish and hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The decline of Fresh Cream started before the economy tanked, and when the economy took a turn, it was only a matter of time before the landlord was forced to bring out the attorneys and demand the hundred thousand plus dollars of back rent.

Chesney never told the share-holders he wasn’t paying the rent until the debt got to ninety-five thousand dollars. Wait staff was making heroic efforts to save their jobs but when they couldn’t bring me five of the six wines that I selected off the wine list or they couldn’t serve the food that was on the menu because they didn’t have it in the kitchen and the end was diffidently in site when one waitress told me that there were a hundred burgundian glasses in the restaurant the week before but she couldn’t find one burgundian glass that night, the reason, because Chesney was taking the wine and the glasses out of the restaurant for his own use and to sell or reuse in another place.

The Adobe Inn spot will take hundreds of thousands to remodel after that disaster of a restaurant wrecked the place. And don’t think for a minute that Chesney has the money to open it in Carmel unless, like I said, his girlfriend who’s dad has money and she has what she took from a one year marriage with an attorney who moved out of town. Maybe you’ve seen her, she managed Piatti Restaurant in Carmel about eight years ago.
