Letters: History doesn't back cross

Full story: Monterey County Herald

Could it be possible that all the constitutional controversy regarding the cross cut down on Del Monte Beach in September is actually much ado about nothing? I say so if history is represented honestly.

My response to Duane Allen about a community coming together - Where were you the last few months? Sure not out here in the valley where friends were fighting friends and neighbors fighting neighbors. It was pure ugliness!! I see a definate large dividing gap.

Another excellent argument against resurrecting the cross sent in by Gordon Smith. Too bad the City of Monterey will not only not read it, but will continue to keep their collective heads buried in the sand.

NO CROSS. Leave that symbol down. It offends me when I think about all the suffering and blood-spilled over the centuries because of religion. It's time to put aside fantasy-thinking and come together as humans. Make-believe is for children, not brave adults. Let's put our critical-thinking caps on and do our best to save the planet and our species. Sorry to break the news...but no "ONE" is out there listening...only WE have the power.
