It is cold as hell this year. Here it is March 26 and it is 17 degrees. Half of the year is cloudy - It is also very windy. Other then that it is great. Your car will be caked in dirt 1/2 of the year - so don't wash it untill July and expect that shine to last untill October |

1 I moved from Michigan to Montana in September of last year, I do not regret it. The west side of the sate is mountainous and gorgeous. The central and east side of the state is big sky country, where it is kind of flat and very windy, but it also has its own character and beauty. We have real summers and real winters here, who could ask for anything more? |

1 I have lived in three different areas of the state and all of them hold their own beauty. Yes, it gets cold and snowy...but, that is part of the charm. Imagine, a moonlit night with stars in the sky, crisp and cold, and sparkles of snow in the air...like little diamonds. Iamgine, a hot summer day with rushing river waters, so cool and refreshing, it takes your breath away. Imagine what it feels like to have the mountains hug you in their majestic motherly way. Imagine springtime, with flowers smiling at you as you walk in places where noone else has been for lifetimes. Imagine a sky so big it boggles your mind. Imagine, miles and miles with no buildings...no people...no stress...no pollution...and sunrises that make you glad to be alive. That's Montana. And it's so dang cold you would NEVER EVER want to live here. It's the worst place to live!!! |

1 Whoops! Just went back at read your post! At least in NoDak, people WILL talk to you. It's just the vast distances that go to me. But NoDakians are fabulous people. Regarding Montana. It sounds like Anoka Minnesota, where I worked for several years. Glad to get out of it. I HATE the wide-open spaces. Bad for my psyche and eros. Montana and Anoka MN are indeed psychic twins. In Montana, it's the vast distances. NoDak has the same. But it's mainly PRODUCTIVE farm land. Montana is more like Afghanistan and other muddled-up east countries. Like a giant sandbox. Can't grow anything. That's why people are jerks. Bad land=bad attitude. So good for you getting out of there. Just don't move to Anoka.:) And in the meantime, listen to George Dunning's score to the movie "Picnic." It's awesome!:) |

I'm not a native "Helenan", nor was I born in Montana, yet I absolutely LOVE it here. Crime does happen here occasionally but there's definitely no "cover up" - our news crews report it just as quickly and thorougly as possible. As for being friendly, I felt like I was welcomed with open arms shortly upon moving here. It seems like you're one of those people who feels the world should revolve around you...and get upset when it doesn't. The only thing I'll agree with is that the weather is unpredictable, and that's because we actually have different seasons. Perhaps you thought the sun would shine 24/7 because you moved here? |

I admit to be slightly nutty, but it has nothing to do with the fact that I live in Montana. Question: why would you think we need to have a lot of money for gas? It's not as though we travel the entire length of the State. That's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. Thanks for the laugh! |

My wife and I will be moving to Helena with in the next year. Can't wait to get there. We have visited Helena and Missoula and found them both to be very nice. The people we met seemed nice. I will agree with the other poster with driving,,get out of there way, they do go fast.

we are planning on moving to somewhere in MT next year and I will be working as a nurse, hopefully with children.
dont really know where to live there though. Yes Ive heard and heard about Libby, so we wont go there. Thought about around Yellowstone until I watched episode on Hist. channel about its inevitable that the volcanoe will have super eruption in the near future.. thought about billings b/c of size. I wanna go somewhere that is really scenic and gorgeous with wildlife and streams and things like that.. Mountain view... aww so gorgeous. what about school systems there? |

So your one of the lazy ones I see around town with dirt caked on your vehicle. A little effort, that's all it takes. You sound like the typical whiner. Maybe you should consider Arizona where you won't get so cold. I worked for over thirty years outside in Montana. You gotta be tuff to live here. Wusses need not apply for residency. lol |
