State and Townsend police on Monday night found the body of a man believed to be a 51-year-old Leominster hunter who had been missing in the Townsend State Forest since Friday.

So sorry for this family. Does anyone know what he was "hunting" for? I didn't realize it was hunting season yet?

Hunting season is year round it just depends on what season it is.

That is a very unfortunate situation, my sympathy to the family. Deer season isn't open yet but hunters are not allowed to shotgun hunt on town property without the town's written permission, as you would any private property.

Gregg was hunting small animals , varmints (raccons and squirels) nothing outside of the hunting permit .
He was a great guy and good freind . RIP - from your Comverse office colleagus.

Don't make snap judgments about people you know nothing about. Gregg was a great guy and although I haven't seen him in several years, I'll always remember his kindness and his smile. Rest In Peace Gregg.

As of 9-11-09 there isn't anything open for hunting accept for Bull Frog and Green Frog, bag limit of 12. Starting 7-16 to 9-30. Full CAMO and a shotgun for frog hunting??

Too many items in the article as written don't add up. Wearing camo (vs. blaze orange), wearing a back pack, carrying a rifle (vs. shotgun), hunting when there is no game season ?

my father was a great man, better than you will obviously ever be. he would NEVER disrespect someone who has passed or their family. its a shame you were never taught the common descency of keeping your personal beliefs to yourself during these situations.

There are many jack*sses out there and unfortunately sometimes one of them rears their ugly heads in our path in life. Feel bad for them, they have no soul. Sorry for your loss, I can only imagine your pain.
