The government IS running GM now. Where does Welch think the real decisions are coming from? They're coming from the Obama administration. Who fired the CEO of GM? Obama.

Who voted blindly for the billions in the stimulus package? Welch did.

Government Motors is the future ... and it looks like it needs an overhaul. Rep. Welch is not going to buck Obama, nor is he going to do anything but vent the voice of the people "we've got a unique situation here where the brutal unfairness of the law is imposing enormous, unspeakable hardship on some pretty good people." Thanks for standing up for the pretty good people and keep that politic speech coming.

The new heads of GM and Chrysler have 536 new masters. The House, the Senate and the President.

How many multi billion dollar businesses has Mr Welch run? What's his business experience? He's now going to dictate to GM and Chrysler who will sell their cars and trucks in Vermont. What will happen when the companies start doing well again? What will happen whe somebody (a REPUBLICAN) wants to open a dealership in Vermont? They're going to have to go through Mr Welch.

Everybody in Washington is now the BOSS of the companies.
And that's an absolute shame.

We wanted "Change" and we sure got it!

I find it comical that we may end up with automobiles similar to those available in Russia during the Cold War... They lasted maybe a year, if you could get them to start, and available parts were nowhere to be found to fix them.

Just about everything is a joke lately! Gas heads up and cars get less mileage than they did years ago! Didn't VW claim 50mpg back in the 70's?

I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota with 140,000 miles on it. I LOVE that truck! It starts every day and I can trust it to take me anywhere.
I only hope it lasts as long as the truck I traded in for the Dodge. A 1990 Nissan pickup that I drove 314,000 miles.

And yes, VW did have a 50 MPG car. I had a 1981 Rabbit DIESEL that did indeed get 50 MPG.

Actually, the LADA was a FIAT. They were sold in Canada too. And now FIAT owns part of Chrysler.....?

But the TRABANT, THERE was a CAR! East German engineering! The thing couldn't get out of it's own way! That was Government automotive engineering at it's best. Ready GM? Ready Chrysler? Ready USA? The TRABANTS are coming!

I never understood how a country as great at making cars as Germany is could have ever made them.
