More candidates for Union Co. commissioner

Greg Williams needs to run as a write-in for county commissioner,we need someone that has an interest in Union Co.,not there PAC that they belong to in the West,they have an agenda that will hurt the taxpayers as a whole.

We need to get someone to represent eastern Union county instead of these 2 ultra liberal newcomers from the special interests in the western part of the county.

Eastern Union County currently has representation on the board. Has it done them any good over the past couple of years? No! All it has done is pave the way for the developers to work with farmers to sell their land to build houses.

Mills, Baucom, and Lane currently live in the Eastern part of Union County. The current majority on the board though is Mills, Baucom and Pressely.

So, for the past 3 years, the Eastern part of the county has held the majority. Tell me, have you actually benefitted by this in any way?

Look at the Charlotte paper just yesterday-Union County owes over $320,000 in payments to Legal firms in the past year because of the majority in power.

Who has to pay for this? The tax payers of Union County!

Ex-County Manager Mike Shalati's Severance Package-Over $600,000-He was fired because of the majority. Who has to pay for this? Again the tax payers of Union County.

Kirtg, Not Stupid. Read, research. Think. Look beyond the message before making comments.

Kirtg, you should run to "represent eastern Union County". That is the problem, a lot of people talk but don't walk the walk.

The special interests of Marvin, Waxhaw, Weddington,& Wesley Chapel are still at it they want control of all Union County. They are completely anti-growth. I've heard them say at their little secret meetings that "they have to stop all growth or they will end up with low income housing & we all know what kind of people that brings in". Don't fall for there lies. Its not the commissioners that want to take away our rights it's the lords of Marvin.

Low income housing,look in the foreclosures of the papers ,half are in the "THE GREAT WEST",cant get any lower than that.

Oh, Karen I don't live in Eastern Union County I live in Wesley Chapel. I just hate to see The Lords of the West take away rights from others.

Kirtg, why does it say you live in Monroe? I live in Wesley Chapel as well and have been here for three years. I absolutely love the area and I think I can speak for many that they want the best for all of Union County.

I really feel the new board will be totally non-biased when it comes to what will be best for ALL of Union County.

What can you show me, other than comments from a meeting that you were supposedly at.

Karen, because Wesley Chapel has no zip code. If you live in Wesley Chapel why does it say yon are in Waxhaw? I like Wesley Chapel also except for the socialist mayor & council & the rest of the newcomers.

Because, kirtg, Wesley Chapel has to use Waxhaw's zipcode because we do not have our own Post Office. That still does not explain why yours says Monroe.

Because in this area of Wesley Chapel we use the 28110 zip code. Seems you don't know very much about Wesley Chapel. But thats typical of the carpetbaggers coming here.

You are just not a nice man are you? Why are you so bitter? How long have you been here? If you have been here all your life, it is your neighbors who sold the land which allowed the development that the new people moved to. You should not be angry with the newcomers.

I dont believe Kirtg is angry with the newcomers,it is there attitude that this is the way we do it up north and thats the way it WILL be done here like it or not,it is being said everyday.There are plenty of northerners moving here that are really friendly people,better than some southerners,but when high taxes are crammed down your throat because of fancy schools,no commercial development in certain areas,what is a land owner to do?When you have a farm,people complain about the smell,you cant hunt on it anymore,the best thing to do is sell it and let someone else worry about.

Wonderfully stated finally someone that doesn't belong to the lords of marvin.

What is it going to take to get a county commissioner to wake up and become fiscally responsible? As bad as I hate to admit it, Kevin Pressley has shown brief flashes and is putting his foot down against the schools outlandish requests. There are things this county needs worse than a school resembles a Moorish castle or the Taj Mahal. Build schools out of concrete block, paint it all grey, give them heat & air, put in the ball fields and turn it over to the PTSO & Athletic Booster Club to finish and put in bleachers etc. If a builder wants to build a subdivision let him pay for the water and sewer inprovements and road improvements upfront. The citizens of this county can no longer wait for growth to pay for itself. Think of it this way, If a person moves into a house in Union County on the right date it will be 1yr before the county see's any revenue. There children have already been in school they've already been provided Fire Protection, E.M.S. and Law Enforcement. And many other county services.

Where are the Taj Mahal schools and castles being built? I am not aware of any except for school complexes which initially was to include TWO elementary schools, a middle and one high school on the same property! Why not just build one larger elementary instead of TWO? I guess now it is going to be one elementary for now, but clearly in the wrong place - on a farm to market road that isn't equipped to handle the current traffic much less all the traffic this school complex will bring to the area.

I have a problem with all of the construction going in before the infrastructure is in place. Seems like this area is great about putting the cart before the horse.

Yea Karen lets do it like we did up north. What a bunch of socialists.

Does anyone know how we can begin a recall move to remove some of the existing commissioners before they put themselves and others of similar philosophy with the existing majority back into office after being voted out?
