Jena 6 case: Young Black males the target of small town racism

Once again you comment on events which transpire 2.5 hrs+ and hundreds of miles from your location. Do you even have ANY firsthand information or are you spewing forth the pre-packaged media information you are absorbing? Do you know ANY of the people involved? Anyone in Jena at all?

Does anybody know JESUS, I'm so glad he is not like MAN. How could you put a child in prison for 22 years for a so call prank. And to the Jena Native, are you trying to have a private lynching. You seem to be so consern about what other people think and dont know about Jena.

Since these are kids, maybe the parents should be the one on trial.

How you can come to the "private lynching" conclusion from what I have written is a pure mystery to me. I care about the town's reputation because it is being sacrificed to the population at large to fan the flames of hatred. I care because those "salt-of-the-earth" churchgoing folk deserve better than to be relegated to "white trash" because of some media sensationalism. I care because the vast majority of those same people would give the shirts off of their backs to help anyone in need regardless of color. It boils my blood to see things taken out of context, ommitted, and skewed....then accepted as fact by folks just like you who then feel the need to dismiss those who live elsewhere. You grabbed the race card and never looked at anything else...partly because the media has not given it to you, and partly because you see what you want to see.

This is another case of misrepresentation and idle speculation from an ignorant source posting on a forum.....keeps all the other trillions of bits of irrelovent tripe company and adds to the "just because YOU say it doesn't make it so" truism. The "kids" were 17 and above which in Louisiana means they can be tried as adults... I guess it takes all kinds to make the world go 'round. After all, California is such a paradigm for tolerance and morality....thank you ATL...how did we ever get along without you?

To be honest. We don't like darker complected people here. Fact of the matter is that them boys overreacted. They acted like savages and beat that white young man. They'll get theirs soon enough.

Trent, please refrain from making an already tense situation worse. Comments like yours get bundled in with the story and the people of Jena pay the price. Start a new forum topic if you wish to air your personal sentiments and start trouble. ANYONE who is a racist should not be tolerated. PERIOD. Whether white, black, green, or any other color.... we should be judged by our actions not where we come from or how we were born. That is all irrelovent.

Regardless, if the District Attorney comes to your school and tells the entire student body that the next incident of violence will be responded to with the fullest measure of the law....and if you choose to cause the incident, you should expect to get what you were promised.

God will Judge you all and color of race will not be the issue.

Somewhere black kids have to ask permission to sit under a tree. What exactly do I need to know. They could not be more blatantly racist.

I have to agree with you. I have personally seen the news media intentionally skew a story to cause hate. It started locally, and by the time the national news media got involved, it made my neighbors look sacrilegious. I firmly believe the media is doing the same thing.

Why is it no where, except the Jena Times,Has it not been reported that the Justice Dept. nad the FBI has reproted on the events that have occurred in Jena. Both the Justice Dept and the FBI have clear the Police and DA of doing anything wrong. Also that the events didn't qualify as hate crimes. Although if the attack have been the other way, ak 6 white boys attacking one black boy, the press wood be screaming bloody murder. Yes, the it would have been a hate crime. Talk about a double standard. Just let uis have a white mayor convention etc. this would been racism. But no the other way around, it is ok. If Billy Graham came to Jena it would be "wrong". But let Al and MLK III come here. And by the way what has MLK III done, nothing, his father was famous and did things. What has he done other than live off his father's name. Let's get on with life.

It doesnt matter if you are black or white if you hurt some human being this bad you should be charged and go it prision.

I glad you don't live in Jena also. You can go back to the northeast or stay in northeast south(Florida). Some parts of Florida are just like being in New York anyway. We don't want your opinion. Go back home!!!!!

The teaching of hatred of one because of his race, sex, religion, or sexual orientation needs to cease! Children don't come into this world with hatred at the core of their hearts. It has to be "carefully taught." Refuse to continue to teach your children the hatred that was taught to you. Teach them that they should judge a person, not by the color of their skin, but on the content of their character. I have many friend of many ethnic groups, races, and religions. I also have some friends who are gay. They are all intelligent and kind, and they have allowed me to expand my knowledge and thinking. Please, teach your children to respect and love all life.
