Wolf park, Great Hollow lake, Webb Mountain, the Discovery Zone not to mention a few others. We simply do not have enough commercial growth, I mean open space for a town this huge.
We can simply raise property taxes again. After all, the taxpayers have an unlimited amount of money and its our job to make sure they waste, I mean spend as much as we possibly can on these necessities.

It is nothing more than a recommendation to Town Council and Board of Finance to pursue funding for protection of open space. It is a "great idea" to conserve dwindling resources before they are built out. This property is also un-developable for a number of geographical issues. Only a part is usable and the rest would not interest or be open to commercial interests.
Really

Wolf Park, Great Hollow lake, Webb mountain park, The Discovery Zone, not to mention a several others. Just how much open space does a town the size of Monroe really need? Dwindling resources? It appears we already have a great deal of open space. And we are not building homes like we did several years ago. Homes pay taxes, open space never will.

Really.....get a clue. Business taxes pay the bills in a Town, not residential taxes. The family cost for the school system far exceeds what is paid in from residential taxes. More houses than business, that's why Monroe's tax rate is so high.

Taxes are high because Monroe spends tax dollars on everything but growing our tax base, that issue should take priority over all other. Our commercial tax base pales in comparison to all other surrounding towns that has placed the burden on home owners.
To spend money on more open space, when we already have an abundance, is mismanagement and irresponsible.
Again how much open space does a town the size of Monroe really need? Open space will never pay a dime in taxes. There are other choices besides open space. How about turning the area into a 55 or over community surrounded by what not build able?

Daily Horoscope for June 19

Sagittarius

Don't be surprised if a member of the family is unpredictable or does things on the spur of the moment today. There's nothing to worry about because they won't do anything too alarming or disruptive. In fact, their actions will be like a breath of fresh air and they may even help you to escape from a current rut. So don't hesitate to be that little bit different yourself, either.
