Education has more to do with the parents and individual student. Some feel the school dist makes a child. No insult intended

If a student wants a good education at ringgold they can get one. In this area there is not a district that is better. You could place a student in the best possible district and if they are not intelligent or the parents do not work with their kids it will make no difference. I have seen people move to so called better districts thinking it will make a difference and the kids were just as dumb

..Be careful, you're starting to contradict yourself..And who are you to call a child dumb? There maybe be some children that need extra attention but to call a child dumb shows how shallow you really are!

Shallow? Contradictions? Not sure who is to worry? A bit judgemental or maybe self righgeous are we? Since i was not referring to a particular person and simply trying to drive home a point. I do not feel out of line but if it helps make you feel better i will rephrase. If the oarents show little interest or the child has other gifts aside from academics then the district will not matter
Now may i run for office

Ok dumb was a poor choice of words but children are different and are gifted in various ways. A school district may have some influence on them but they will evolve based upon their gifts and much more influence comes from the family. I think what i originally meant is that some feel a particular school is the answer. I have witnessed parents who sent their kids to private school in hopes of straightening them out and it did not work since they refused to admit they were the problem.

GEC did GREAT on the PSSA's in 2010 - 2011. The teachers there have always performed well. The community should take notice!

Yes..shallow and contradicting. Far from being judgemental, I'm not the one who said how important our children's education is and then turn around and call some stupid..that was all you!

I absolutely do not agree with your comment about calling children dumb..don't know how many will agree with you. And if you think you made a point with that remark then I don't know how you can sleep at night..let alone wish somebody a good evening!

My daughter is gifted with an i.q. of 143 ( that's 17 points below Albert Einstein mind you) and she still frequently comes home from school lost or not understanding the material. What say you to that!? Are you going to say she's dumb? Or are you going to have to admit that maybe Ringgold just might suck!? God only knows they've got some of the worst teachers I've ever seen in my life. I''m sick of reteaching my children every evening and weekend what they're not learning in school!! Cyber school here we come!

I can understand where you're coming from but all this talk of Cyber School is just isulating your child behind a computer..yes, it's probably a better alternative than Ringgold but why not try the private school located in town?

I've been thinking about Madonna as well. Just wish it was a little cheaper as I have two kids and the tuition is a little high for me. We're right at that point financially where we would not qualify for help with aid but still it would be difficult to budget. School vouchers would be such a benefit. Believe me if we had vouchers I would have gone with Madonna from kindergarten. There's nothing better than a good quality catholic education.

My husband and I made the sacrafice to send our 2 children to Madonna..it was well worth the sacrafice! I know it's tough but I'm sure they would be willing to work with you if you truly want your children to attend. They both attended a Catholic High School as well. My children have since graduated high school.. It was the best decision we have ever made!

Ringgold drops summer school; others provide it By Jeremy Sellew 7:17 a.m.
Students planning to attend Ringgold summer school to avoid failure or earn credits required for graduation need new plans. Days after releasing information about summer school for middle- and high school-level students, Ringgold announced that the program has been eliminated.

Yep..I'd say they're lookin pretty good.:(

This school district and it's school board disgust me! I hope they screw up so much that the state comes in and takes over! By the way for some of you who'll post on here (If you don't like it move some where else)no problem especially after I heard about the county reassesments comeing soon. I refuse to pay higher taxes plus whatever the board decides to waste more of our tax dollars on!

Whatever, not only have the complaints come full circle, but the complainers seem to be telling themselves to leave now.

Matters of the heart take an unexpected turn today. You might be strongly attracted to someone you've never looked at twice until now, or you could fall for someone who's much older or younger than you. If you're already involved in a relationship, either you or your partner will want to make it more exciting and spontaneous. Is this a suggestion that will go down well?
