council meetings

I was listening to the city council meeting on cityofmonongahela.com and noticed that Doty said “we always have meetings” or something like that.

My question is why do they have to have meetings before the monthly council meetings? It costs money to advertise these meetings, pay for the utilities used, pay the City’s lawyer, cost man hours to place the ad in the paper, etc. And how many are they having without advertising them? There is a little thing called the Sunshine Act that may be worth looking in to. HEY VALLEY INDEPENDENT, DO WHAT A REAL PAPER DOES AND INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE.

So why do they have to have these meetings? And why are they during the afternoon when the good people of this town working?

Just wondering? These guys are snakes. Plain and simple. The truth will catch up to them.

And on a side note, who is cheer leader in the crowd? Since when is applause necessary for people doing their jobs? I go to work every morning, do my job, and go home. I don’t need, or want, 5 or 6 people with ulterior motives inflating my head to make me feel like I deserve applause for doing my job. It sounds like a Jerry Springer show for God’s sake!

So who was the applause for?

I attended a meeting a few months ago.
The audience claps for almost anything announced.
For example, if a City employee does his job and they announce what was done, certain members of the audience, clap,and then everyone there follows these clappers.
It feels as if there is a sign announcing when to clap-almost like a talk show.
It seems very "over-done" and unprofessional.
More people should attend these meetings & ask questions. I wish I had a better work schedule so I could attend more.
It feels as if a lot is being covered up and hidden. If you attend, you would get that feeling, also.

Just attend a council meeting & you'll see. They don't even have real meetings anymore.
You can NOT ask a question once their meeting is started. How crazy is that? If they are discussing something and you have a ?, you can not ask it!
I am serious.

How are we allowing this to occur?
They hand out a generic agenda with NOTHING on it. You have to guess your question from a generic agenda at the start of the meeting.
Who started this-new mayor or our new council members?

At least in the previous years, you could ask the coucil and mayor cole a question when it occured to you and when they were discussing what was going on with our City.
These new guys are sneaky and it seems like they are only meeting on what they want us to know-not the real story.

What do u think Mon City?

We all need to complain to our new council & new mayor that we want this changed back & fast. We don't have a voice in our own commuity anymore.

This reminds me of when we thought gas was high at $2.00 a gallon.

We all thought we needed a change with these new people, let's bring back the good old days of a year ago.

Thank you Stewart!! I have stated in other posts that they will not let the public speak. There is alot that the public doesn't know. I agree that people need to take the time (a whole 20 minutes!) and go to one of these meetings. They are the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7:00. And according to last meeting also at 6:00, but I guess you have to be one of the chosen few to know about those ones.

do not pay attention to the council meetings or comments from that web site. It is owned and operated by Kennth Cole Jr.
The man is doing it not for the good of the city; but for revenge for his dad. Kind of like what George W. Bush is doning with our country. Someone messed with his dad not he is seeking revenge.
The city of Monongahela has an offical web site. Call city hall for the web address.

you do not do your homework; first of all the 6:00 p.m. Is just for council to bring all their thoughts togeather. dahhhhh!. You can ask questions on thing they are discussing during the meeting. Yes they do open up with a public forum. and the ajenda is for everyone to know what topics they are discussing by the way; do you know on what Wends the meetings are held?

dmwm, I am not sticking up for the coles, I dont know them that well. But, the audio of the council meetings is just that. Its an actual recording of the meeting. So why would you not pay attention to it.

I appreciate you letting me know about the 6PM meetings. Still seems to me like they have a meeting before the real meeting....doesn't seem right....just how I feel.
Do u attend these council meetings? I went to one a few months ago for a problem in my neighborhood and was surprised at how poorly they were being run. They start at 7PM. If u attend, you might see what I am talking about.
It's hard to explain, but they only take questions from the public before the meeting. You can not ask a ? when they are holding their meeting. Isn't that wrong to you???? Why can not we ask a ? when they are holding the meeting?
I am no fan or "mole" of Ken Cole as you posted in another link, I am just someone who has witnessed a wrong-doing, and with our council meetings and think this needs changed.
I think we need to move-on with the current council and mayor and stop blaming people who are no longer serving. It is now all about who is in there now. Why "dmwm" do you keep bringing up the Cole's? Sounds like u have a personal problem and you are off-topic here. Let's keep this about Kepics, Miller, Caudill, Doty, and CJ Williams. They are the ones who can make our city better or worse, right?
