I have been around for a long time and I notice a few vocal people have negative comments about Monongahela but it really is a nice little town and I believe the majority feel that way. Better than most up and down the river. More importantly it is not a pretentious overpriced crowded suburbia. Overall not a bad place to live. Consider supporting local organizations, schools, businesses, law enforcement and government. I know many people who already lend a good bit of support but more is needed. In the end you help yourself through property values tax base and a nicer place to live. Now I know a few of you will fire back with loud mouth negative remarks but I am looking for some positive input. We already all the folks with an ax to grind, lets here some people point out some positives. ie. scenery, history, businesses that we still have etc. How we can all better support our community?

Sure, we can have a campfire, hold hans, and sing kum by ya too.

Oh, can't do that, the city has a law about campfires so it's a no go. Maybe we can use a flashlight. Oh, no we can't, the noise from the singing might disturb someone trying to watch Dancing With the Stars. Well then, we can hold hands. No can't, new law in town, not allowed to show pubic affection,$600 fine yaknow. How about a gathering in Chess Park? No can't do that either, need a permit and 90 days notice and it will have to approved by council. Council won't approve because they want to sell sidewalk stones for $200 each and having all those people in the park might prevent the sale of the sidewalk stones.

Then we'll paint some footprints on the sidewalk on Main Street and lead the people to an approved gathering point. That's a great idea, we can paint them down 3rd street too and over the railroad tracks to the fancy new Aquatorium with it's freshly cut weeds and new trash cans.

But the footprints don't cross at an approved rail crossing! I know, we can put up a sign that says cross at you own risk. Brilliant!

Why is it then that NOBODY does anything about really changing things? I mean absolutely nobody ran against the people in office right now! How can we change if we keep the same people in office?

I agree 100%% with Can Man about being positive, but with the people in office now, who wants to waste their time....because HUH is 100% right about hitting a road block (city hall) with every thing that a citizen wants to do.

CLEAN SWEEP! From Mayor all the way down to janitor...

I would love to run for office but I don't have the political connections to win plus I'm handicapped and people in this town would make fun of me and rip me apart. If I thought that the majority of the citizens in our town would listen to what I have to say and look past my disabilities I would love to serve as a council person if elected. Also if one thing really gets me angry it's the idea our madam council woman lost in a previous election yet our mayor put her in office anyways. How is it that she got elected this time it makes no sense. As much as I love this town many of the voters in our city confuse me they say they want change yet they either put the same people in office or in claudias case she got elected when not long ago she lost and you'd think the people would be mad our mayor put her in against the majoritys wishes yet this time around they voted her in.Unbelievable.

Your butt must be awfully big for you to be pulling all this out of. Where are you getting your informantion from??? Let me guess; you must be one of those people who do not like the city officials. None of what you are saying is true. This I do know; stop; just let God in your life

I know how you feel. I hate the idea that people who really care about this town have little to no voice in this festering pus filled wound called monongahela.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Aries

Christmas Eve finds you happy and eager to get the most out of the day. You're in a rather sentimental mood, so if you've got time you'll relish the chance to watch a favourite film, especially if it means you've got to get out the hankies. A friend's kindness or sensitivity will delight you - and make you wonder how you can reciprocate.
