I believe the intention is excellent but a softball game might be more appropriate. I like to have a few drinks but anything public like that --the youth of the area will see and mistake as an endorsement of heavy drinking even though it may not be. Especially with the proms coming up.

I don't think it will have any effect on the youth of today. Unless it's on youtube, twidder, any text message, any game console, mp3 player, cell phone, any blog, or other electronic social protocol device they won't even know it exists, let alone be influenced by it.

The end does not justify the means. I say not good. It would be like having a smokeathon. Of course that could be in the works.

What's the difference between a bar crawl or a gun/cash bash? I don't hear anyone knocking gun or cash bash's. Those functions serve alcohol, and I know of several in the city that had alcohol for reduced costs or even free! The bar crawl not only raises money for a good cause, but it also brings in people in mass that could have a positive impact on other businesses in the area.

I do not believe this is an appropriate means of raising money. Yes, it encourages more business in bars, but really, do we have to encourage one of the biggest problems the Mon Valley has?

Softball game, bake sale, community yard sale... There are TONS of options out there... Wake up Mon Valley!

The bar crall is embarassing to the community. The carnival was also embarassing. The fire department needs to raise funds, but these two events need to go! Blaaaah!

This sounds a lot like the letter our community churches sent to THE BAR to protest the BAR CRAWL. They stated it promoted drinking. Did they stop serving wine during communion? One church called my business during the festa because they ran out of booze to sell. YEA RIGHT!... I'm the one going to hell for being a sinner.

There was nothing wrong with a bar crawl. It was for a good cause and was done responsible, The FESTA had alcohol and gambling. The worst part is that there were under age gamblers at the festa. Come on people dont throw stones from glass houses.

Fund Raising is a real pain in the neck. From bake sales, hoagie sales, gun bash , cash bashes, selling wrapping paper, bar crawls etc. everyone involved will tell you that it takes alot of work to raise much needed funds for the organizations. For those critical naysayers , how about volunteering to help with the next fundraising event?

Bars that participate make a donation to the cause. That's how the money is raised.
Those visited are usually the ones willing to help out. Trust me on this. Many more were contacted to sign up.:-)
