Tax-free weekend loses luster

I expected to see much larger crowds of parents with their kids this weekend. They were there, but in far smaller numbers. We were able to shop with ease, no long lines or huge crowds, and the selection was very good instead of all picked over. Everyone was polite, and the sales were all really good. Combine that with coupons and no sales tax, and we were able to save a lot of money this year.

i dont get it!! what is wrong with people?? but these are the same people that will complain about prices and the cost of living

If it was as TRL described, then it was worth the time this past weekend.
my past experience has been, that unless youre dropping big bucks, it wasnt worth the hassle.
fortunately I have been preparing all summer. my girls for the most part had it covered.....
they still want more clothes...theyre girls, thats to be expected.

I was STUNNED at the good behavior on part of both the kids and their designated grown-ups this year. I think I saved more money, and had a better time doing it, than I ever have. The sales were great, and the crowds thin.

And SM, my kids were *just* about to start whining for more when I threatened to take it ALL back. Sufficient gratitude and silence followed. LOL
