<quoted text>Nothing surprises me about Julie nor her mother. I am sure people have witnessed different things, & that everyone is telling the truth about what they know, unlike Julie or her mother. Did the person who owns the phone she used, turn it in? It would have helped the police in their investigation. In a nutshell: I don't believe that Julie's innocent by a long-shot. She got a bad reaction from people about it, something she didn't expect, so decided to come up with a different story about it to make herself look innocent & get back the respect she lost from others. Her mother, on the other hand, is more than likely busy looking at dollar signs right now, thinking she's gonna strike it rich.
One more thing: The law is the law, & no amount of complaining about it is going to change it. I don't agree with how this was handled at all, but what can we do? Oh, & Nancy, feel free to judge this as mean, spam, incendiary or whatever - if that makes you feel good. I've noticed that you like to that whenever more of the truth gets spilled out. Anyhow, no amount of judging on your part, is going to change anything.

The girl she claimed to be was questioned but did not know anything about it. Her phone was not the same phone Julie claimed she was using. The actual phone was never found or pursued for some reason. After using that phone for a few weeks, Julie resumed using her own phone which is the one used in the investigation. I think you are right about the story Julie is telling and trying to make herself look better. Its sad though because she could have just told the truth about what happened and said she feels bad and regrets it happening and more people would respect her than whats going on now. I mean she can't get into any trouble for her role. Only he can be punished. To try to make him look like a person who raped her and threatened her and all the other crap, is just a horrible thing she will have to live with. And the mom, well, do I need to say anything about her. I think we all know what she is like. Thank you for the information you have given. I respect your views.

Thank you. I respect your views too, as well as everyone else who's shared theirs too. It's been interesting to hear what others have to say about this & about what they know about it. Too bad the law couldn't put all this info together & retry this case. Maybe there would be a different outcome - who knows.

Well, from what I can tell, the outcome of guilty or innocent would not change. But, what would be nice is if a more reasonable sentence or offer had come about. I am still shocked to know there are actual rapists, murderers, armed robbers, and drug dealers (some with multiple offenses) who do not have sentences as long as this teacher. I am not arguing with anyone that what he did was ok and we should ignore it. But, its ridiculous that 12 years of his life are taken because she wanted to have sex with him, and she went to certain lengths to make it happen. The law is the law and he is guilty. But it is still possible to take her actions into consideration when you sentence him. I think this was over-hyped, over-prosecuted, and over-sentenced. Thats my opinion. I am sorry if others disagree. That is your right, though.

I agree with you. Don't worry about what everyone else thinks. We're all entitled to our opinions. I, along with many others, feel that it was a very stupid move on Nancy's part to take this to the news media. But she is stupid, & too money hungry to listen to anyone. There also should have been a more thorough investigation too. Julie using another person's phone to call him is of particular interest. All I can say, is that as far as Julie & Nancy go, that you are dealing with master manipulators & liars.

I know someone who dated him until she found out he was secretly video taping her! She did go to the police, but ended up dropping the complaint. She regrets this very much now!!! The police did search his house and confiscate his computer. She was of legal age, but just shows how creepy and sneaky he is!

I know Jason VanHoutte. Unfortunately, that is! After almost eight years of marriage, I found myself divorced. I was naive and lacking in self confidence. I met Jason shortly after in 2002. I thought Jason was incredible. He made me feel good about myself and I thought he genuinely cared about me. I held him up on a pedestal. I was at his beck and call. In 2004, I finally realized who the other side of Jason was. After leaving his house that Saturday morning, I went to the police station and filed charges. I waited while the police served a search warrant and conducted an investigation. My world crumbled! Jason contacted me telling me how sorry he was. I stupidly believed him. He convinced me that ruining his life wouldn't make the pain he caused me go away so I dropped the charges. The pain and hurt he caused me have never and will never go away. I regret dropping the charges. When they mentioned me on the news I was struck with guilt. If I had been strong enough to continue with the charges maybe he wouldn't have taken advantage of that young girl! Those of you feeling sorry for him shouldnt!! He is a sexually sick man who preys on the weak. Justice has been served!

Does anyone else now see the part julie may have played in this after the Terronez incident? She obviously didn't feel "trapped" with vanhoutte since she went and sought out another older man after getting one sent to jail.

I know him personally and he isn't that bad! When almost everygirl in that school wanted him all men would consider it..I always thought he wanted to wait til they were out of school before acting and I respect that. He is a human being like all of us and half of you guys could not say no to what he said no to on a regular basis for years! That girl was just having fun and it destroyed his life because of it. Hope she learned from her mistakes too because she is also to blame here..I swear girls are trifling!

I agree with the statement from "shocked" that only he and her know what happened. But the same applies to the all the thoughts that this has gone on for years. We don't know that. Yes you can play both sides. If it has gone on for years, then its about time something happened. But if it hasn't happened before and people keep saying it has, how is that right? I don't know if it has or hasn't happened. But I am tired of everyone claiming it has, and yet they have no basis for it other than they heard rumors. I mean, really, people say they know it happened. How do you know? What did you see? You said it yourself, high school girls are jealous, gossipy and will say anything. Including making stuff up about teachers. Nobody is saying they were a victim so I guess I have to say unless someone can prove he is a predator, then I am going to just say it is too bad for both people involved that this incident happened. I think he was sentenced as if he had done this many times. No one gets this much of a sentence for this. And if he was treated as a long time predator based on rumors I think its wrong. No one is claiming he is innocent. I think people are trying to find that middle road where a person made a mistake but, the role of the girl would be taken into consideration and a lesser sentence was invoked. Thats all.

I am a former team member of a baseball team coached by jason. I graduated in 2000 and i am 100% sure he was praying on kids even way back then. I personally know more than one of his victims. I was just a kid then and did not know how wrong what he was doing was, and had no contact with him or the school after graduating. He is the definition of a cereal rapist. He grooms his victims into thinking its all in fun and no big deal before he makes victims of them. He is where he should be. In prison. I also am of the opinion that several of the teachers there, including certain un named administrators, knew exactly what he was doing.
