Christ Vestal wrote: <quoted text> The church and it's pastor are complicit in this crime by fostering a dictator-like control of the poor deluded people attending there. Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia have shown us that when a single man aquires that much power, corruption occurs. The biggest problem that baptists have is that they claim to believe in Grace, but then make man-made rules; such as the skirts and dresses that you so ably mentioned, the forbidding of alcohol, movies and dancing, and the removal of all contact between the sexes. Baptists believe the Bible ONLY when it fits their doctrine, otherwise they must do akward mental aerobics to bounce around the passages they don't (or won't) accept. VERY WELL SAID!

I'm sorry you went through so much pain. But I am glad you came out the other side. Some never do. I've written two books for survivors: SCHIZOPHRENIC CHRISTIANITY by Jeri Massi (on Amazon.com ), which is non-fiction, that describes and explains how these guys get into power and why the IFB is so wide open to such horrible men, in spite of its claim of Biblical purity, and SECRET RADIO BY GRACE JOVIAN (on Amazon.com ), which is a novel set at a Fundamentalist college in the 80's and depicts the way that corrupt religion and bad morals play out in harming the lives of other (though the book has an overall happy ending and is, in many ways, a comedy) I also supply a free podcast, Recovering Fundamentalists, that is a mix of devotional material, music, updates, and comedy, designed for survivors of abusive churches. I supply another free podcast, All of Grace, which is devotional. Thank you. I needed that and will buy the books.

When did Dave actually start getting on the path of evil? Can't answer that one, but Ive had two friends who knew him as a teen-ager who told similar stories.
One dated him at Hammond Baptist High for a very brief period. She told me her stories in the early 70's when they happened. She never had a sexual relationship with him--my guess is he figured out she "wasn't that kind of girl" real quickly and that's why he dumped her-but she had plenty of stories to tell about getting into mischief with him, and his friends.(Won't say the names) The story I remember most was about being alone with him in a car on the freeway system around Chicago when he and his buddies were drag-racing. She said when the speedometer hit 100, she screamed and tried to slide under the dashboard (most people then didn't wear seatbelts, y'know) until it was over. A few months later, Jack Hyles came to speak at the Christian institution where my parents worked and preached a long sermon about raising godly children, telling in detail how his kids had NEVER been alone in a car with a member of the opposite sex. I was only 16, but I knew hypocrisy when I heard it. Either he was clueless about the lives of his kids, in spite of his sermon to the contrary, or he was telling a bold-faced lie. Time seems to have proved the latter. The other friend was a teen in the FBC youth group when David, who dropped out of HAC, was made the "Youth Pastor" at the age of about 19 or 20. This friend's older sister was constantly "hit-on" by Youth Pastor David; her teen brother expended much energy trying to keep Dave away from her. This naturally gave the brother a bad attitude toward the "man of God" and for expressing this attitude he was given a severe whipping by his father, one of the staff members of the church. Needless to say, he wanted nothing to do with Christianity after that. How truly tragic. I had wonderful, godly, genuine, honest Fundamentalist parents who lived, humbly and quietly, the faith they possessed without legalism or intimidation. Most independent Baptists are humble, salt-of-the-earth folks like my parents, not like these egomaniacal men. Don't judge all by the sins of a few, however monstrous those sins are. "There but for the grace of God, go I."
(Oh, the place where my parents worked stopped having Hyles preach in the 80's, as the scandals began to come out)

I have no respect for jack schaap but accusations against jack hyles are ridiculous. Ask yourselves whats more important....spending 7 years writing a book about christians that arent serving God or spending 7 years witnessing to 1 extra person everyday? It took me 5 minutes to respond to crap. Didnt interfere with my schedule at all. Jesus went to the cross to save sinners like u and me...Jesus gave His all so that we could live with Him forever...I didnt realize that spending hours everyday posting useless blogs was part of the Great Commission...Lets get our facts straight and look to Jesus and get the Gospel to some people...Jesus Saves!!! Whens the last time thats been a blog?????? Hi Dave.......it matters

Go to http://dictatorpastors.yolasite.com/ Lets just get to the bottom of things here. The reason why there are so many problems in churches like Hyles, John Frank Norris and Ragland is because they were liberals under the guise of Fundamentalism because they started teaching the heresy of following/obeying the pastor and putting very little emphasis of following God in practice and speech. They have the same corrupt doctrine as the Roman Catholic Church on authority you do not question the Pope or in this case the Baptist Popes. Therefore these scandals and accusations against these kind of men are very prolific. The Bible teaches in so many words the Separation of Powers also known as "Checks and Balances" this prevents anyone from having absolute authority so the servants have some protection. But these Baptist popes want no one over them keeping them in check so they are going to have to live with getting accused of things whether it is false or true without complaining or belly aching about it. Its there own fault. If you do not like what I wrote here that is fine. You do not have to believe what I believe. I give you that right. see I am not like those false or novice pastors that I mentioned. I believe in giving people the right to be wrong.

this is a comment to "Doesnt Matter wrote" I have been in law enforcement for about 15 years and I have conducted multitudes of rape cases, child molestation cases etc. These are Innocent children being preyed upon by the lowest of the lowest and you say "what does it matter what a man does". You tell that to a child who was brutalized by some pervert you pervert. Maybe you are one of them you Sick-o. Yes Jesus saves but your example from scripture is irrelevant. The Bible says nothing about what the Thief on the cross did right or wrong. I have also delt with some of the most traumatic family cases where one is cheating on the other and domestic violence and you want to say what "Dose it matter what a man does." you pervert you "sick-o", you "slime of the earth." There is always some sick-o posing as some self-righteous Christian trying to act like your so righteous. Anyone defending this puke and I will write back and I will say more. Maybe you need to go to jail.

Is David Hyles still at First Baptist of Jacksonville? He was my youth director in the early 70's. His actions were disturbing to say the least.

Be careful who you talk to. Some of it is true and some is false.I knew the Hyles's when in Pinellas Park. They adored their son Jack David, as we all did. His death was a horrible accident. There were many credible witnesses to what happened. David Hyles left our church as a result of his inappropriate behaviors. My thoughts on this: God will not be mocked. I hope they are well and have turned back to the lord.

I have been a Fudamental Baptist all my life, even attended Bible college in a school in NW Indiana, met Dr. Hyles, Dr. Hutson, Dr. Roloff, Dr. Rice, and the list goes on and on, the thing is though I set under great men and heard great messages I never worshiped the man. He is only a messenger. In my opinion due to the fact that I had gone to FBC of Hammond several times and Have Had several cousins and an Aunt & Uncle in that ministry for several years I believe the immorality claims against Dr Hyles are substantiated and well backed, I know that Dave Hyles participated in immoral activities in atleast 2 churches. Dr Hyles even if he did not have affairs on his wife knew about Daves problem and still sent him to Texas to prey on other women. Than makes him guilty as guilty as if he had commited the acts himself.

byGodsgrace wrote: wow! I just read this and think...there are some people with too much time on their hands. You probably shouldn't call Dr. Jack Hyles and adulterer or his son David a pervert unless you saw it or heard it yourself. It's fun hearing gossip and hearsay, but to spread it is sin. Of course, you probably never knew Dr. Hyles in person, so you would not know what your talking about. It's ok though, if he were still alive he'd pray for you all and love you all, because that's what your supposed to do for you enemies. Having a strict & good dress code is a great testimony to the Lord and the church. It shows the unsaved we believe in dressing modest & taking a stand the Lord. I read what you had to say and I knew Jack Hyles and his family personally and I can say that everything about the adultery is true, and the pervert David is just that a womanizer and adulterous not to mention other things. I went to the church since I was 5 years old and left when I graduated from Hammond Baptist and the double standards in his home and what he spoke about behind the pulpit was very predominate. I know I was friends with Cindy and like I said I knew the family my father in fact was a head deacon for years. But I agree if it is gossip it should not be thrown out there but why would you leave your child with someone you thought or heard was a pervert? In the bible is says it would be better to never have been born than to hurt a child. So David better watch out.

I am deeply in love with a LOVELY young lady who attends your church, she is pregnant with our baby I HOPE!!! Where as they HAVE A LOT of bad reviews on here about your church and the people in it! my only CONCERN is for her parents; LEE AND KATHY where as he beats her up and SHE TEACHES THERE pre school--- SHOCKING HUH!!! THEY ARE ACTUALLY GOOD PEOPLE WITH SIN just like everyone else and need to slow down and realize people that love and care about them and their family SHOULD not be treated like the way they treat people FOR INSTANCE... HER DAUGHTER AND GRANDSON pretty much have nothing to do with them over kathys ACTIONS!!! Let alone BEATING YOUR WIFE IS NOT THE CHRISTIAN WAY!!! SO GROW UP, REPENT FOR YOUR SINS and REALIZE THAT I LOVE CASSANDRA AND IF THAT BABY IS MINE, I WILL BE INVOLVED IN ITS LIFE NOOOOOO MATTER WHAT!!!!! I ALSO LOVE HER AND ANNIKA VERY VERY MUCH AND IF SHE COULD GROW UP A BIT AND STOP LYING OR BEING NOT SO TRUTHFUL, we could have a BEAUTIFUL FAMILY BUT NOOOOOO NOT THAT!!! SO PLEASE PASTOR J... TALK SOME SENSE INTO CASSANDRA --- AND PRAY FOR US ALL...CAUSE WE ALL SIN...NOONE IS PERFECT!!! TAKE CARE AND GOD BLESS!!!
