I haven't read a thing about this in the news. Are the people who beat him up being prosecuted?

I heard both were intoxicated. Why did the bar have to ask them to leave because they over served. Wheres their responsibility to these two young men.

Yeah, that's it. Blame the bar, whose job it must be to supervise adults. Because obviously, grown men can't take care of themselves.

They had both been drinking a lot. From what I heard, the victim made a derogatory statement to a friend of the person who did the beating. It should have been dropped - instead, someone is in a coma.

Regardless of who had been drinking or what had been said, there is simply no excuse for assaulting someone to this extent.

I still do not understand why the bar should be liable for this assault. Define "over served?" Should the bar do sobriety tests prior to serving alcohol? Are they experts in determining who is sober and who is not? No. It is up the adults drinking to know their limits.

A bar is suppose to train their employees on how to tell if someone has to much to drink. But as always money drives the business. As long as your not causing a problem and still money in your pocket they will serve you. I'm saying it's all the bars fault but this happens all the time.

The kid in coma threw the first punch then got knocked down. It's too bad he hit his head but it could of gone the other way too. The other kid could of hit his head

I feel bad for the kid in jail. It was the kids 21st birthday! The older, more mature 27 year old threw a punch at the kid and what do you expect from men? Retaliation. Supposedly the kid was a baseball player for some college in Indiana, now his dreams are ruined. No doubt I feel bad for the man in the hospital, but I hope they go easy on the kid.

Yea that's my friend in jail. He has never fought anyone. He also isn't the one who knocked the kid down. But he is still in jail. We all feel bad for eric bartell. But the only reason they r holding him in jail is because of the condition he is in from hitting his head off the parking block. It could of been the other way around . Just a very unfortunate situation for all involved.

It blows my mind that you can "honestly" say how bad you feel that some baseball players dreams may be ruined??? How could that even factor in when there is a kid in the hospital fighting for his life becasue of what this guy did!?

Because his intention was not to put the kid in the hospital? And I'm sure it was not the other guys intention to put the other kid in the hospital. Accidents happen, it wasn't his fault the guy was over-served and lost his balance. The average cost of an inmate is $30,929 in the state of Illinois; I would rather have my tax’s go toward something a little more constructive than imprisoning a harmless 21 year old college frat boy. Hell I’d rather the money go toward the man’s hospital bills. I hope you feel a little safer that one less killer is off the streets tonight.‘Eye roll’

The kid in the hospital swung first and because he fell and hit his head my friend is in jail. And he's not even the one who knocked him out. Another guy hit him because he hit his friend. And now my friend is in jail for defending himself after being hit in the face. He has a swollen lip and eye in his mugshot to prove it.

A little tact goes a long way today, enabling you to navigate your way through what has the potential to be a tricky situation.
