Who is running Mohawk? The mayor? The board? Or the village clerk Judy Bray?

Who is up for a good old fashion "town hall meeting" to get some answers?

It's time to bring the pride back to this village and recreate the family-friendly environment of Mohawk.

There is nothing wrong with questioning your local government and showing you care about your community.

I'm saying the village clerk... the majority of correspondence goes thru her. She can pick & choose what she wants to pass on to the mayor & board.

The school should have been fixed years ago. If your child is not some "sports hero" your child is nothing. To much is put on sports today instead of scholastics. Just look at the number of graduates Mohawk has, the count goes down just about every year.

The school count goes down because fewer are having big families like they used to. At one time people had 5-10 kids per family, then 3-4 now 1-2 kids per family. People are moving out of the area due to lack of jobs. Then the drop out rate due to teen pregancy doesn't help.

Probably Judy should run for mayor but she'd have to lose her big money and free benefits.Funny, keep your job whether you do it or not and let everyone over you only know what you want them to know. Can get away with anything. You all talk on this site to change the board but when it comes time to run and vote no one shows up. You're all full of hot air and talk on this site

The count is not going down because people are having few children, more students drop out. Why do these kids come out of school and can't even read. If you can't read it is a very sad thing. You just can't push a student thru grades to get them out of school. You have to teach them. Both parents and teachers.

I agree. That is why I am asking those who read this if they would like to organize a town hall meeting and get ALL of these looming concerns, questions, issues etc out in the open. I would like to take SOME action and get further than to just banter about idle gossip.

Of course, like every thread, the topic was swayed to another topic that alredy has a thread.

All you have to do is walk around town, there are meetings all over the place. There are more adults hanging out on front porches in Mohawk than there are kids. Parents cant sit around in public drinking beer and smoking weed and expect their kids not to do the same thing. The school and the kids are not the problem, they are just the ones affected by what goes on around them, the school merger could be the best thing to happen to these small towns..its not just Mohawk, take a ride around Herkimer some warm night...
