$10,000 for one bust? Damn did they come at you with an armored car, a tank and a troop of cops? No way a bust would cost that much figure a cop makes 20 bucks an hour and if they pay over time that would be 30 bucks, so if the raid took 3 hrs that would be 90 bucks an officer.p
lets say $1000 for other things, car's, gas, etc. that leaves $9000, So you had 300 officers at your house? damn you a bad mf'r or a complete dipshit, and I think I will go with the later. SO sit down and toke up a new one because your arguement is invalid.
Do you not have a clue what it costs this county to put together a drug bust? The investigation, the manpower and the time put in. The person they were looking for didn't even live there. The had about 15 law enforcement people raid my house with guns drawn and the whole nine yards and the person they were after didn't even live there. Are you really so naive that you don't believe that the whole thing cost them a lot of money. FYI the weed wasn't even mine. They felt so dumb they just dropped it. And that is just another example of how inept our MPD is.

You are right, I bet it did cost about that. Anyone knows that when it comes to hiring labor and man hours--that a $1000 won't get you much, therefore, along with other costs, it could add up to $10K easily! Especially when the investigation took more than a couple of days.....

However, spend all the money they want, you cannot fake hard, HONEST work.I am a little disappointed that the Highway patrol fell into this botched job.....however, the probably just got their info from MPD.

Yes the highway patrol officers said that obviously they were not needed for this and went ahead and left. And I'm sure they got their info from the MPD. My point is if your going to raid someone's home looking for bricks of marijuana and manufacturing supplies etc. Then make sure you have the right address. I'm sure that someone took an ass chewing for that screw-up. But at least no one got tasered to death or shot over 5 grams of weed and a pipe.

I mean this nicely, but you do realize that this post is about a drug raid that yielded basically NO DRUGS. This is not about the TASER incident. Though, now that you bring it up....they just keep screwing up, don't they?

I think YOU are watching too much TV. No one is saying that we are organized MOB status. However, I happen to know that a local businessman has been stopped several times for Drinking and driving...MPD would let him go because they knew him and were friends with him. What is so funny is that the one time he did actually get busted....it was the HIGHWAY PATROL that stopped him.
I think that is what is so pitful, there is probably not MONEY changing hands....MPD is willing to look away based on "who their friends are" or "certain people in the community". Also, there are favors done. There just is.

I knew someone that's Father is "connected"(to no one important just to Moberly People)...they should of gone to jail but that is not what happened. The person even said they weren't worried because they would use their Dad's name. That was under the old staff.....however, I think its the basically the same even now.

Let me assure you....if you are a "former" moberlyn, you know this is true of the past. And, if you are not here now, then you have no idea what continues to happen.

I know someone who has the same last name as the prosecuting attorney and even though they drink and drive all the time, they haven't and won't ever get pulled over and if they do they won't get a ticket.
They run that name they going to let it go and if they don't and it goes to Mike he'd trash it.
Makes ya want to change your name so you can do anything and be untouchable.
Anyone watching the Hatfield and McCoys?

I am about 99% sure of the local businessman that you are referring to. In which case, is a pretty lame argument. The FEW folks in Moberly who actually do anything that help the community, and have the means to do so, are demonized on this site. This shit is embarrassing. No wonder nobody wants to open any businesses and create jobs in Moberly.

No one wants to open up a business here because there are better places/city governments to deal with in the surrounding areas.

Moberly is too close to Columbia and Wal-Mart makes is hard for the smaller guys to compete.

Now, you state nobody wants to open up a business in Moberly Missouri, wonder why...scandal after scandal. The whole State is laughing at our City Government.....which I hate to bring up because as you said, I am sure that they are trying to make things better. The whole COUNTRY saw how the Taser incident went down thru our Police Department....I mean, Moberly has such an image problem now, unless we get fresh, new faces in Offices so that people can start to trust and support them....I do not know what will happen to the City. It will take a drastic change. Moberly needs help and I have no idea how we are going to get it!

I am not being arguementative, but I do not know of any people in town that are trying to get it going and have the"means to do it".I am afraid that the families that people think "have the means to do it" probably do not have the means ANYMORE. It will probably take newcomers. I wish someone with the "means to do it" would show up and save the day!

We need forward-thinkers, not those that just want to control and yet do nothing. And, I must admit, we have some of those forward-thinkers on our City Council. Others just want to micro-manage.

Honestly those who have the power to do so only help themselves and theirs. They are not worried about the citizens of Moberly at all. ONLY THEMSELVES AND THEIRS! I as a worker, homeowner and tax payer will not get any help from Moberly.
If I get pulled over, I get a ticket. If I get a DWI, I lose my license and have to go thru the whole judicial system. There are many with the right name and/or friends that don't have to abide the law like the 'normal' Moberly resident.
I have not gotten a DWI, I am just saying I know people who have broke the law and got away with it.
Moberly is corrupt. And nobody with the power or means to do anything is going to. Not unless it helps them!
And before some smart ass says something, my house is on the market and as soon as it sells I am gone!!!

Moberly is like an abuser. They all stick together and when anyone complains, they act innocent and that the complaintant is just lying and making things up.
I would like to say that they are in denial, but the aren't. They know exactly what they are doing and will continue to do it unless some people get up and make some noise. Now, if you do, they will label you a TROUBLEMAKER, but that is ok, I would rather be a troublemaker than what these low-down, lying, crooks are involved in. Too bad most of their contacts and dealings are actually done in Church......they try to make themselves look all wholesome on the outside. I helped with Church (even though they do back alley deals)
I donated this and than (even though they swindelled the money that was used to buy it in the first place)
I helped start a non-profit place for women and children(even though they neglect their job and duties that the City pays them to do)

Like Macon--it really has some good qualities and is run well.....Moberly is bigger, has more smaller towns closer to it for support....and yet, we do not do well at all. Why? City Government!
People need to get out and vote!

I totally agree. My youngest child will be a senior this fall and as soon as she graduates we are out of this crooked community. We will probably move to boone county. My husband already works there and has to commute. Eventually when all is said and done this town will probably dry up and blow away.

They will chase all the good people out and then ask themselves, WHY IS THIS TOWN FULL OF LOSERS? WHY CAN'T WE GROW? The answer: because all the good people are smart enough to know your incompetent dumbasses that are so insecure about yourselves, you will never invite any of the smart, good people in to help run the town. You will pass down your "position" to your dumb family members that will keep your crooked little tradition going for you?
There are a few on the town Council that this would not be true of, and I hate to lump them in the category....but for the others & some city employees...if the shoe fits....

Try to get out and about today because it will do you good to have a change of scene. Even you, a home-loving Cancerian, can start to feel stale and bored if you're stuck in one place for too long, so try to vary your surroundings as much as possible today.
