North Dakota asphalt paving scams are becoming a big problem

North Dakota; sheriff’s deputies are issuing an alert to area residents about the possibility of a traveling “gypsy” paving scam that could be in this area.

Capt. Travis Palmero said activities that occurred Tuesday prompted deputies to warn residents to be cautious about those offering paving work, especially from solicitors that go door-to-door willing to do asphalt or roofing jobs for a cheap price. Palmer said what they’ll likely get is substandard work and materials as someone tries to scam more money from them.

“Be aware — if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is,” Palmer said.“It’s nothing but a scam.”

Although no official criminal report was made Tuesday, Palmero said deputies are certain they encountered those attempting such a scam in this area. Typically, in a “gyspy” scam, the workers allegedly travel around to different areas and agree to do an asphalt job for a price, but then raise that price once the so-called job is complete.Other charges are already pending against several companys sources have said.

I had 2 guys show up at my house yeserday trying to good deal me on some recycle asphalt or something like that,But i had already seen the story on tv and read about it a few times,So there was no way I was going to stand out in the damn rain and chill to listen to this fat guy who talked like he had a deep souther draw with a hint of irish rouge in his speach,He said he was freinds with Larry from another paving company,Im going to call Larry because he is a family freind and let him know these guys are using his good name as a pry bar to get work..

BEWARE OF ASPHALT PAVING SCAMS
Asphalt driveways can begin to look pretty worn and faded after a few harsh winters. And it is only natural for a
homeowner to want to get the restoration done as cheaply as possible. But as you concentrate on your home repair
projects this summer, beware of asphalt paving scam operators.
A traveling asphalt paving crew may notice your driveway and offer you a low-priced opportunity to revitalize it.
But a little bit of caution and common sense can help prevent serious problems.
The ability to hit and run is the key to a successful asphalt paving scam. Crews usually wander from one county or
community to another offering a driveway sealing service. Representatives of the crews typically approach
consumers in their yards, promising low estimates because of leftover materials from a completed job a few houses
away or on a nearby highway project.
They may offer a lifetime guarantee, but often the quality of the material used and application is inferior, and you
may soon have weeds growing through the new asphalt. Unfortunately, the paving crew is long gone by the time
you discover you have a problem. It may cost you more to redo the driveway after the fresh look washes away with
the next rain shower.
Another way to spot a possible scam is an offer to do the work without a written contract. Without a written
contract, the original low estimate may grow to hundreds or even thousands of dollars once the work is completed.
The crews often operate near major highway systems and insist on cash payments. If checks are accepted at all,
they are cashed immediately at the nearest bank.
It is up to consumers to protect themselves from scam artists. If you are eager to have the work done, you should
insist that it be on your terms. Ask for references and check them before agreeing to have the work done. Take the
crew's written estimate, and tell them you will get back to them. Get bids from established local paving companies
to compare prices.
Make sure that the asphalt paving company has its transient merchants license, which is issued by the Attorney
General’s office. This license requires that the company be bonded so that in the event the work is substandard,
you can file a claim against the bond. Without a bond, you will have little recourse if there is a problem and the
paving crew leaves town.
Above all, don't let them pressure you to have the work done immediately. North Dakota law requires that
consumers who are solicited at their home be given a written, three-day right of cancellation.

I was just looking at all the transiant merchant paving outfitts,Most are from Texas and noticed the same names on diffrent sets of licence..There is something very fishy going on with these outfitts,I know what the things ive read says and it tells they are mostly crooks,It looks like the asphalt paving mafia is trying to take over North Dakota;just sayin?

The big red headed guy worked with mike n martins was there cousin who was married to there sister.I was told by a freind who still works for them.that the big red headed guy wasnt worknig with mike n martins company,somebody is trying to cause soe confusion here,mike n martins was partly owned by the big red head'.The last i heard he was back working with his brothers;there last name is price and they do paving work,mcdonalds and price ran mike n martins when i worked for them..I see there is part of the crew already back in minot and i heard a lot more is coming-they will have 30 of there cousins up here selling asphalt door to door,I could take you to some crappy looking work and some very mad people-all the people who dont get mad and are easy-they go back evey year and put sealer on there pavement,so they might want to be carefull talking about trolls because they are bigger then the normal size guy and twice as strong

All are the same,if they come to your door looking to sell you asphalt paving or other home improvements,they are Irish travellers..and the only thing they specialize in is ripping people off,it dont matter what name they tell you they are because people dont never know there real names.If you read this then hire a guy that comes to your door trying to sell you any kind of home or business improvement-I will let you know now you are getting scammed--the answer is simple-just dont hire nobody who comes to your door trying to sell you something that they cant let you think over for a few days--end of story-

I got to minot last sunday and couldnt find no place i could stay because all the camps and motels said they are booked for the summer.We stayed 1 night in minot and was only able to get 3 loads of recycle because the plants wasnt running.so we took the loads towards bismark because we was told there was camps and motels down there we could stay in.i wont say the name of the fat red faced quad caller and his buddies that we seen but never even spoke to them,we just seen there stuff sitting around town and i know they seen us.so we go about 50 miles south of minot and was tilling around 2 loads of quads go to the trucks and ask for me.they left a card with a number on it for me to call so i just told the guthies to go on to bismark because i needed to get my licence and everything i needed anyway,we go and get rooms in bismark and tuesday morning the trucks had about 6 car loads of quads crawling up inside the beds of the trucks and doing there thing,so i ask them what was going on,they told me what they was doing and they even knew that we had stayed in the ramkota inn in minot on sunday,i know in my heart as well as i know my own name one of my own cousins who i knew was low lifes anyway had called and turned us in and we hadnt done nothing.Boys i can make a good living anyplace;But god as my witness paybacks will be hell on the sneaky dirty bstards.yous keep north dakota i dont need it but the winters are long and and i will get even i promise yas that.ps enjoy it while you can because im calling and telling everything i know so im sure ill be seeing yous sooner then yous think your only up there on borrwed time before they lock all of yous up.

this is a example of the smarts of these low lifes..they try to say there in ft worth and there thing shows up minot by the name.they are the biggest bunch of cuffs and low lifes that exist and think we are all a bunch of cuffs like them

Well i did leave out one little detail,Since i hadnt done nothing and i was in Bismark anyway,Dont say you wasnt warned because what im telling is the truth i swear it,I could tell that they didnt want me in the state and i am not looking to climb over the fence to get in the jail house,They was real intrested in what information i had to share with the guys in the suites,i would say we talked over a hour close to two hours,they done had everything they needed on there own,i just filled in a few pieces of the puzzle that maybe the did or didnt know??Alls i can tell yous now is they know everthing for sure.I told everything they ask truthfully then i told them some things they forgot to ask,I told them who was who how they was related and even told them where yous ate christmas diner at,I kinda feel like you guys look,So to ease my own mind im telling yous to look out because i think they would take your whole outfits over there,so all i done was return the favor but now im coming clean.I TOLD THEM EVERYTHING.so yous are more then welcome to keep the shit hole place anyway,im out i got things to do where i dont have to ask permision from a quad calling transvestite,them big farm boys will like yer jills when they lock yous up haha..you will see i swear it!

They know who is who and i didnt know you guys listed hired men on your transiant merchant licence,either did they but we got that all streightend out,122 sets of merchants licences listed in there office and about 10 more trying to get them,I was realy a lot of help to them letting them know who everyone was..no threats im only telling the truth so i dont loose no sleep when i hear the news.
