Bike Sales Boosted By High Gas Prices
Four-dollar-a-gallon gas is good for business -- if you run a bike shop. Commuters around the country are dusting off their old two-wheelers -- or buying new ones -- to cope with rising fuel prices, bicycle ...

I feel this is great that is if everyone can do this. It is also healthy and great exercise. To bad not everyone can not do this and force the gas companies to lower prices.

I've been riding my bike to work for years now. I still get foul looks from drivers as if I were the one causing the global catastrophe...

I wish I could ride my bike to work...but my job is 20 miles away from my house! I have been looking for a job that is close to home though, so that I can ride my bike, but with the economy being as bad as it is, trying to find a job near my home is just as likely as finding a gas station selling gas for under 3 bucks!

Remember there's always the bus and train. The only time the media reports public transportation is when there is death or some other tragety or problem. It can be an alternative. I know it doesn't work for everyone and some need their cars but it's worht a try. I ride my bike to the train station and lock it up, when I get to my destination station, I have another bike there stored in a bike locker and use it to get to work. It is AWSOME! I get excercise and do my part. If people can start thinking differently about their commute and get off their butts, we can make a differnce. Thanks.

I have been riding my bike from Point Loma to Bankers hill everyday for work. Great morning ride. This is one good thing about the rising gas prices.

Demand $2 a Gallon Gas
Oil was $120 a barrel on May 5, 2008. The cost of a barrel of synthetic fuel from coal is estimated to be $55, including the infrastructure and labor force necessary to operate plants. Germany fueled WWII with synfuel from coal. It is proven technology. America has 1/3rd of the coal on Earth and can eliminate dependence on foreign oil. Reducing America’s trade imbalance keeps money and jobs here in America. Every billion in trade deficit costs 13,000 American jobs.$400 billion for oil last year: you do the math. And we can stop sending billions to countries that sponsor terrorism. Synfuels are cleaner burning than gasoline and carbon sequestration can remove CO2. Visit http://governor.mt.gov/hottopics/faqsynthetic... Harness your anger at the pump. Call you're US Senators and demand they break ground on America's energy independence by encouraging an American synfuel industry in this decade. If you don’t raise your voice the oil companies, lobbyist and politicians will assume you are fat, dumb and happy and ready to pay even more. |
