Scenario #1 Open your business & let them close you down...they already have without ever opening. Document everything from selective enforcement to what has been posted prior, and at least you will have evidence. Firefighterdan34, Sir, the trustees are appointed, not elected. Computer is spelled with an "e" not "o" as in " computor."

Whoa, what makes you think we don't vote? Look around, there has been hardly any growth in the area in years in terms if businesses. Not just Minooka but all of Grundy county. I think it's very telling that establishments that have been around a long time have hung in there during these economic times but newer ones can't get a chance. That is how growth begins and there is room for everyone. If an establishment is offering great food or great service or whatever then a little competition won't hurt. Honestly I do wonder though how some stay in business, one restaurant that my family and I ate at has been around for years and is popular but there were ants in the booth and the food was awful. Yet their still around, proably because who wants to drive 15 to 20 minutes to eat somewhere else? The bottom line is the rules should be fair across the board for everyone.

I have lived here all my life this town is great and its getting better. I am sure there is more to the story behind this place. And to you Fireman Dan thank you for watching over or town. I really think people who are unhappy should leave and live somewhere else. I am a bus driver and have seen alot of bad and upsetting neighborhoods would love to see alot of those out of here.

Dan, I’ve been in Minooka for more than 10 years and fully understand the permit process. I’m assuming you’re like me and also fully understand how much Minooka businesses are struggling, not to mention all the home foreclosures. This being said, I have an expectation that our elected officials, especially Pat Brennan, would do more for the one business that is trying to bring much needed revenue into our community. Do what? I don’t know, maybe bang on some doors at the county, but do something! By the way, this is something of a moot point as the permit has been approved for Odonjos. All homeowners should understand that we have a vested interest in supporting them as all businesses in Minooka.

I just happened to be at Ace the other day and saw the Fire Inspectors truck at Odonjos. But, I also so saw Steve Thornton, the Minooka Bldg. inspector pull up and go inside. Steve is from Orland Park, he does not play Minooka politics. I know, I used to work for him. Most likely, the hold ups put in place by MFD were legitimate. The building was built to be a coffee shop with an expected occupancy limit. When you change the use, you change the expectations of occupancy. This poses changes to the sprinkler systems. And when you change equipment, go from coffee makers to fryers & grills, you also change the risk of fire. I am not defending the MFD, the board may have made things harder. But there is alot to consider when changing the use of a food service. First and foremost, approval from the Health Dept. is aquired, then building permits which are reviewed by the police & fire for approval before the Bldg. Dept will issue the permit. Finally all inspections must be passed and the Health Dept is usually last. Now that they will finally open, we can all read the ignorant reviews that will surely follow. If you really want change then don't just post a crappy review about the first time you visited that place, give them a chance to get going and work out their kinks then go back and give them a second chance before you take to your keyboards....people read these boards and can kill a new business quickly. Maybe they will be fanatastic and rave reviews will fly for a change.

What this town really needs is an all night diner. Not a Denny's or IHOP, rather, a uniquely original late night diner. Where the kids can hang out and sip on milkshakes and the adults can sip on coffee. Do a throwback diner, like the picture with Dean, Marilyn and Bogart sittin around the counter. Thats what this town needs...a place for the bikers to hang, car shows, etc.

I don't think that kids need an all night diner to hang out at. There is a curfew for a reason.

Haven't you ever seen Happy Days? Those high school teenagers hung out at Arnold's all the time! What? Your kids can't be trusted to be clean and peaceful at such an establishment? C'mon man! Grow a pair and remember what life was like when you were young!

The trustees of the fire district are not elected, they are appointed. In order to require an election, a petition to get the question on the ballot would be required. The fact that trustees, in charge of a million dollar budget are not elected is odd. Deman representitive government, start the battle to get the petition started.

We ate here on Monday.Great pulled pork egg rolls. Split a chicken sandwich as well. I thought everything was good. Wait staff young but seemed well trained and when asked to recommend dishes was spot on. Only have on suggestion for desserts get some locally made pies or cakes I asked about the name turns out its a combo of the owners names
