Minnesota Vikings fall short in comeback, lose to Bears

Full story: TwinCities.com

Two of the league's better defenses participated in a surprising shootout. And, in the end, the Vikings too often shot themselves in the foot in a 48-41 loss to the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field.

This loss hurt a lot. It was winnable the whole game but way too many mistakes to overcome. Again, the play calling lacked imagination. With third and two and the Bears stacked up the middle, why hand off to Chester straight ahead? What's wrong with play action to Chester and a lob into the end zone to Garrett Mills? The team played it's heart out. We were outcoached and with the no huddle of Chicago, outplayed. Why not play the nickle every play and make the Bears try to run? My opinion has not wavered. Lack of imagination on game plan and play calling make it imperative to replace the head coach and offensive coordinator. Imagine this team with a guy like Del Rio, Tomlin, Cowher or Haslett at the helm. That's what you call KA!

I know this is a different era with players and their relationships with opposing team's players, but it doesn't seem to bother the players when they lose a tough game like today. Many of the Viking players were laughing it up and patting the Bear's players on the back after the game.

I know many players have friends on other teams, but for the sake of the fans couldn't you show a little more remorse and discretion while the cameras are still rolling.

I don't expect players to punch it out after the game, but it would be nice to see that a loss to a division opponent bothers players.

Well atleast offense got going, but ofcourse as usual with the vikings some other part will take up the slack to screw up....namely defense.

A couple of quick questions:

1. What good is Griffith good for again....oh yeah he is a hard hitter, hows that working out Vikes? Release McCauley if you aint gonna use him!

2. This guy Hicks on returns...what he has the speed of a fullback and the smarts of a lineman? I guess the thinking is we got him for that purpose so even if it's not working out we must use him cause he can't get paid for nothing right?

3. Nice defending the punter you dweebs...he has exactly done nothing this year...his kicks get there way before the guys can get there...you notice how many times we have to fair catch each week?....yah it's not that hard...punt it high enough...there is actually a formula for hang time...he fails miserably at it, and he is probably the only punter who can make 3 critical mistakes on one play...way to make sure you screw it up kluweless....I talk crap about him because we pay him alot of money and have gotten no return on it this year!!!

well the last one was a comment more than a question.

well with offense going we can pull "The Giants" this year at the end.

once again Klink cost the team the game. his coaching stinks, his play calling stinks. he has his players afraid to play the came ie Klewe. this loss was 100% klinks fault and he has to go. look at how the Rams are playing after dumping a loser coach. the players like the new coach and are excited to play for him. wake up Wilf and FIRE CHILLY NOW....Go Queens

No doubt that within 3 years, the (soon-to-be) former Minnesota Vikings are moving here to LA to become the Los Angeles Vikings (remember the Mpls Lakers)who (without Brad "I am" Clueless) will go on to win a Super Bowl or two within by 2012. Cannot wait!

Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy, sloppy play. The vikings should never place their special teams unit on the field...ever! If the Vikings are ever going to have a chance Childress and his coaching staff need to go NOW!

Back in the day Bud Grant would not allow his team to shake the other teams hand after the games. Things have changed alot. Seems like for me anyway the NFL isn't worth getting all bothered about. On any given Sunday your team could get beat. So much show boating. The refs control the games. I have just gotten sick of it.

I think it's safe to say that special teams and a blown call for pass interference on Vinnie Circiue in the end zone lost the game for us.

I still question Klink's play calling, but the fact that our offense put up 41 points is a nice change of pace. For once, Shicancoe performed. Berrian performed. Peterson did his job. On the other side, Allen had 2 sacks. The guys are starting to perform, so it gets down to mistakes, like 4 interceptions, and special teams disaster.

I hope they spend the bye week fixing this, because losing 48-41 is a heartbreaker.

Coaching went from C minus to a D. A lot of arrogance in this underachieving team. Why would Minnesotans want a new stadium if this team can't even win a Super Bowl?

Big John from WI is a complete dipshizzer. Your cheeseheads are going backwards, we're going forwards. Look for a 3rd place finish in the NFC north, if you're lucky and the Lions go winless.

Mary - yeah, you betcha! I used to watch the Vikes in 1969 - 1980 (when I left Minn). The past 17 years are a sham in the NFL - it is more about show and entertainment and not quality and true football. It is a money making machine run by the Jewish/Italian/Irish MAFIAs. Check out who the recent commissioners are in the NFL, MBL, NBA and who own the teams in major pro sports - see also the Vegas wagers - it all goes along the same pattern of big corporations and Wall Street (and our beloved congressional hoodlums).

Don't you have a "film festival" to attend out there in Queersville? Don't be late, your domestic partner is waiting!
