Ramsey County / Money taken in FBI sting a prank, lawyers say

It was all a prank, not a crime. That's the argument of lawyers for two Ramsey County sheriff's office employees charged with stealing $6,000 planted by the FBI.

If it were deputies who are not FOB's they would not get away with "pulling a prank," remain on fully paid administrative leave, continue to use a take-home squad, with the County taxpayer's paying their gas and wages. A deputy that is not an FOB (Friend Of bob) would be fired immediately because the sheriff would see that as an opportunity for good press that he ousted a bad egg. One should check out: bobfletcherexposed.blogspot.com , to see how much is happening. One should also wonder how much is happening that the public is unaware of.

Did we see the video on this one?

How long would any of us in the productive sector have a job, even if the suspicion we had done this was all our employer had.

Show um the door....work out the Crininal Act issues later.

Sorry...I was thinking that these people work for the Taxpayers that pay um....My bad!

They work for the New American Ruling Class...the Government Employee Inc.

Hi Kenny and Sheldon,

How is your friend Aaron doing? Has Earl got him off yet?

Sheldon how did the endorsement go in 17b and you call yourself a Republican after all you did for Corky? Corky sure had a lot of pranks didn't he?

Defense attorneys are...Paul Rogosheske of Thuet, Pugh, Rogosheske and Atkins and Kevin Short (who is also representing Sgt Kelvin Pulphus, caught up in the FBI investigation of racial discrimination in the MPD).Do these guys get a break on the attorneys fees because they work for the city? Decent lawyers in MN are not cheap these days. I wonder who cooked up the prank defense.

Thanks for the info and I am sure, if these guys are receiving full pay and on administrative leave, you betcha, big breaks all the time! And they actually stole the money. And you may think that 6,000 is alot of money, but just look at their salaries, use of city vehicles, free gas, free health insurance. They have stolen more than 6,000 from us, taxpayers! Get Real!

NO MONEY was ever stolen. A gag was played and all money with FBI serial numbers was accounted for. How is it theft when all money was accounted for? More of this Finney stuff. Ever wonder why Finney was not held accountable for his actions, because of his FBI connections.

Just as it was stated in the newspaper. You do the crime, but then find out that they know you did it, you put the money back. No, No, No. I am sure this isn't the first time these guys operated like this. Why was there an FBI sting in the first place? And it sure looks as if they suspected these two sheriffs . Just like if you stole something from Target, walk to your car and see a security officer coming after you. Do you say, "Oh it was a prank". It would never work for the common people. But let's see how FOB's are treated. I would demand that these guys, turn in their vehicles immediately. If they are on leave why do they have them anyway? And receiving full pay? Sure delay the trail as long as possible! These guys don't care, it is to their advantage, they are receiving full pay and benefits and don't have to work. They are actually crooks. But once these guys are put behind bars, they will be instructed by the judge to pay back all pay received while on leave. That is the way the system runs. They should be using the salary from these guys to hire people to replace them. Something liked Temps. And these guys, sure give them a severance pay, but I would make them work by walking the interstate and picking up trash.

I think, big picture, these officers are able to hire expensive attorneys and the state is required by law to pay for them.

Seems to me people get charged with prostitution without getting laid.... The reason the money was recovered is because it was an FBI sting, and the FBI took their money back.

Wow, if you are one of their attorneys, you better have a better closing argument than that.

These guys have not been convicted of anything. A jury has not decided the case. There are always two sides to a story. Shall we talk about Finney's car shows? Lots of department resources went to Finney's personal gain. Forgot about the two guns Finney got (golden). Forgot about the get out of jail free letters Finney wrote for this friends. Forgot about the drug-dealing friends like Benny Williams, who should have been fired for giving official Department documents to Finney's drug dealing friends while in jail? Lets talk about Tucker, Pluff, Duke and others, known major drug dealers and an all very personal friends of Finney. Shall we talk about Finney's involvement in covering up for his friend Foster? You all remember Foster the wannabe cop who worked in the property room. Let's talk about Finney's Jon. Why has Jon been off for going on two years with full pay and has not worked one day? What about Jon's involvement with the woman on the East Side? Just covered up. What about Jon's actions in that bar, just covered up. Jon is just sitting home watching Jerry Springer all on the Department's dime. Shall we talk about Friends Of Finney? Let's talk about Kenny shall we.

Ever wonder where all those guns Finney had came from? Would you like the CNs to match the guns serial numbers.

This was all Finney's doing.

WOW! And only goes to show you that there is corruption in all aspects of the law. Alot of us know about Finney. But I never knew there was a FOBs group. You just opened up a whole can of beans which I think, if the paper, then obviously, the FBI should check out all of Ramsey County as well as Dakota County. My we really do have problems.

Tim Rehak has been corrupt for years. I'm surprised it took this long for him to get his hand caught in the cookie jar.

And Naylon isn't even qualified to be a cop. Where did he come from?

I have known Rehak for many years on the Department and later in the Sheriff's office. I have met Naylon. These are good people, serving the public.

Pranks are played all the time, like unscrewing the window frame on the Commander's door. So when he slams the door, the glass falls out and breaks. How about the time when a particular officer goes on vacation and his lock is cut off his locker and it is filled with balloons and other things. How about taking CN spray and spraying it in the air conditioner vents of the squad car on very hot day. Makes me cry just thinking about it because then you have to turn on the heat to get rid of the stuff. How about rewiring the lights in the squad car. My favorite is moving a squad car that an officer left the keys in and unattended. Pranks are what make the job fun! If pranks were not pulled, we all would go mad.

Day in and day out people are arrested, the courts sort the cases out. We win some and loose some, but life still goes on. That is why the lawyers get the big bucks and we are just the garbage collectors.

It's obvious that they failed the test. Now replacing it with monopoly money would have been funny.

P.S. Wouldn't this actual be entrapment? I guess they would have to admit to guilt to use it as a defense.
