I think that police know what their in for when the take the job (drinks, drug addicts, and dangerous people- they need to be brought in to court "alive" to stand some sort of trial) that may be a really tough job and not for everyone- dealing with the public never is but it is waht they choose to do DO IT RIGHT- DON'T KILL PEOPLE |
|
Why are cops in for "drinks"? We dont have to drink if we dont want to do we Denny? And everyone has a right to a "fair" trial. nothing sais they have a right to make it "too" trial. |
|
ohhh- unbelieveable,,, can you believe that I typed in "drinks" rather than the word "drunks" ohhh, I feel so asshamed for not proof reading everything posted on the technically correct site? do officers take some type of "Oath" to protect and serve? if a suspect can be killed rather than taken in with "Due Process" of the law, than just anyone can be a cop! correct? now one final question for you; "What is it that you are accused/guilty of?" and when are the Vigilante cops coming to see you? |

this is from the most recent story:
"It is not clear whether Backlund then leaves the van on his own or is pulled out, but he is out of the van. Troopers try to use the Taser again but, with the bad connection, are unable to shock Backlund. McCormack eventually "drive stuns" Backlund by jamming the barrel-end of the Taser into his thigh." ...further on wittneses say that Backlund had blood on his face... no would the EMT's have taserd him? so he was shocked for the attempted punch to that officer? the county attorneys office failed this mans family when they did not press involuntary manslaughter charges against mcCormack |

Denny, denny, denny, the fact that this man was "dry stunned" is further proof that the taser didnt kill him. Dry stunning is a lot less charge. I ofter dry stun myself when I have a muscle twich. It only directly affects the muscle it hurts. It is in fact so ineffective that any most Officers seasoned with a taser wont even try it becouse it dosnt work. So lets give up on this case becouse you loose, and lets move on to the next one. See you there. |

Ohh ya, My Oath said nothing about protect and serve, that used to be written on some police cars, but almost all departments have taken it off now. Our cars only have our city name. |

What's a "dry stun"? It doesn't have "a lot less charge" either. A drive stun is pain compliance instead of muscle disruption. |
A dry stun means no wires or cables. Its the same as the old fashion stun guns you could buy at any self defence store. They cause some pain, but you can easily fight through it. |

I do apolagize for Denny hijacking this thread however. this discussion needs to go back to another thread. Denny keeps bringing up different stories. I will no longer discuss the state trooper call on this thread. Denny, keep this thread about the Mpls cops. By the way, a initial shape pulse with a taser can have up to 50,000 volts, subsiquent pulses will be less with an average of 1200 volts for a dry stun. |

Taser, Inc. refers to it as a "drive stun", since you "drive" the Taser into the subject. I always thought it was called a "dry stun" until I was corrected at Skills. |
You are correct, it is a drive stun but pioneer press and tribune both quoted it incorectly and i didnt want to get into a debat with them, but you are correct. |

The officers are Lt. Lee Edwards, one of five black officers suing the police department over allegations of racial discrimination, and Mike Roberts, a 29-year member of the department. Roberts allegedly received $200 for giving information to an undercover informant, according to sources with knowledge of the case. The allegations against Edwards are unclear. Roberts was questioned by federal agents Thursday after Fourth Precinct Inspector Mike Martin asked Roberts to delivery a package to FBI headquarters in downtown Minneapolis, Edwards said.(Ron Edwards, a member of the Police Community Relations Council and a longtime friend of Roberts') He said Roberts told him the investigation started in August, when the officer was approached by a drug dealer working as an informant. The man, who portrayed himself as a businessman, asked Roberts whether he could look up some driver's license information, Ron Edwards said. The man told Roberts his car had been hit after he was robbed of jewelry and $5,000, but he had written down the plate number. For his help, the man gave Roberts $100, Edwards said. Edwards said he ran into Roberts less than 15 minutes later, at which time Roberts said he couldn't keep the $100 and gave it to Edwards in appreciation of his community work. The incident, including the money exchange with Ron Edwards, was videotaped by authorities. According to Ron Edwards, the man approached Roberts several days later and asked for an update on the robbery case. Roberts said he didn't know anything, but the man gave him another $100 for his help, Ron Edwards said. Two officers on suspension for different reasons. |
