If as a motorist you hit and kill a pedestrian, unless you the driver are drunk or otherwise under an influence or have broken a traffic law like running a red light, will not be found guilty of anything.
If the pedestrian was at all at fault and the driver broke no law there will be no charges against the driver and of course the pedestrian being dead would not be charged.
In this case whomever the driver of the Sensor vehicle was in all probability was driving illegally and would have been charged for their illegal driving activity. Once charged they would have been more suceptable to losing a court battle civil or crimminal.
However the Sensors rallyed around the driver and did the smart thing, called a lawyer. The lawyer was a good one and suggested the plan of attack, eliminate evidence of wrong doing and then admit to hitting something, not knowing the object hit was a human.
The evidence of wrong doing was perhaps a drunk driver, confusing stories from the alledged driver, witness gathering and story development etc.
All I can say is that if I were driving illegally and hit a pedestrian I would drive home conceal my vehicle and call the attorney the Sensors used.
When you consider all the cases of hit and run with fatalities or serious injuries just think of the potential for reduced punishment for the violators.
This case is another good example of how the wealthy are able to manipulate our legal system and skate away with no or reduced punishment that a poor person would be locked up for a long time.
BTW, the rich also can pay for the use of the MnPASS lanes, you poor suckers can sit in traffic, LOL.
