Nice article. The last sentence of the third paragraph is pretty telling.

I like this! There's actually a couple of threads that don't have anything to do with gay marriage, abortion, or global warming! Wish we could get more like this!

I know. I try as well but they mostly get ignore <sigh>. Why is that? Topix used to be so much more fun but since the change over, the attraction seems to be the over-the-edge-nutjobs from both sides that want nothing to do with debate. It's a shame, really.

I believe that if you are adrift in MN, it is your own fault.

Neither side will fit your beliefs entirely, no matter who you are. However, one or the other will capture the essence of your beliefs.

It is your job to go persuade the others within your chosen group to move to whatever position you hold. I have been told on numerous occasions that I belong in a Democrat caucus rather than a Republican one.

In fact, I had someone once pull me aside and say they thought it best if I did not participate. You can imagine the fun I had with that one.

Lacking that effort on your part, you deserve to get what the others decide you need.

i gues my 'long' answer comes down to i don't agree with the concept of "Neither side will..."

i don't need a side and i think we would be better off without that concept that is so prevalent in our form of b=governance today in the US.

It is about time! This agreeing BS was getting old.

Actually, you have merit to your argument. But with the system we have in place, you will neveer have your voice heard unless you participate at the ground floor level. Otherwise your vote is simply validating one side's decisions after the fact.

Oh yes! back to being able to say.."Jane, you ignorant slut!" ala the old SNL skit with Akroyd and Curtin.

I would point to the other page I posted this morning that states that fully one third of MN voters have no party affiliation. It has been the swing...Hang on, an old REM song is on my player.

OK...voters that have decided many of the last contentious elections in our grand republic.

i would contend that those of us who do not let others guide our beliefs are gaining an everincreasing voice in the united politic of our nation.

From now on, "Irish, you ignorant slut!" shall be my start for areas where we disagree...

I'd never object to that. But I will be ticked if our friend from Seattle reads your line and steals it.

Do you read all the comics on the page, or just the ones you know are funny?

Lorne Michael's goons just showed up and busted my left knee-cap for not paying for a registered trademark line.(Ruthless bastards, but i have to admire their entrepenuerial spirit....)

I only complain because, being Canadians, they also busted up my ice fishing gear...Oh,the inhumanity!

I believe that since that phrase is over 25 or 30 years old it has since become public domain. If the thugs return tell them this and ask them to see if they can make SNL funny again.

They told me it was the fault of pirates like me that SNL will never be that funny again....sorry.

They also said it was my fault that the walleye catch on Lake of the Woods is down.

I am shamed...

"Moderates caught in the middle..."??? What a brilliant statement.

The last sentence of the third paragraph is bad reporting. A reporter needs to attribute a so-called fact to someone or some source. A statement like that without attribution is what happens when newspapers fire everyone with experience and hire young reporters although I cannot say I know anything about David Banks.

All 'moderates' do is to ratify decisions made by others.

I can attest to the fact that the walleye bite on LOTW IS down, although I cannot directly attribute that to you.

Actually, we correct the radical, manic fluctuations of the fickle sheeple. We are the adjustment bureau.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Aquarius

The emotional atmosphere is quite potent under this Lunar Eclipse, evoking a sense of crisis. The problems you've been experiencing with a certain person lately come to a head during the next fortnight, making you feel that you have to take drastic action or lay down the law. Yet this could make the situation worse than ever, especially if you act from a sense of panic or desperation. Take things gently and don't throw your weight around unless it's absolutely necessary.
