Just to "nip it in the bud," let's save the whining nanny crowd their efforts. First of all, I'm sure this was a legally possessed, registered firearm. Secondly, you can be certain without a doubt, that good old Tyeric had a conceal-carry permit, with no criminal history. Now with that out of the way it's open season time on the suspect.

How can the views of this story be read fairly? What happened that early Monday morning is very tragic. Let's not neglect the obvious, Tyeric is a young black male, Darby Claar was a white male that "didnt come into the city often" If there was an altercation/exchange of words logic tells me that there were some threats made to put Tyeric in a state of defense mode. Where is the follow up story from interviews from Tyerics family relaying how much of a devoted father he is. He also is not married but is engaged. He also has a small children. So not only will Darby's Child be left without a father, so will Tyerics. God willing, it will not be for the rest of their lives. Please, when you see a story of homicide on the news or read about it on a webpost, DO NOT become one sided. Do not let the media paint the picture because eveybody is not a picasso. Yes mistakes were made that night, i'm willing to bet that the ture will come out. All persons that were there at the accident scene and the shooting as well as the residence where Tyeric was "taken into custody without incident" Will have their day in court!!!! This is not an open and closed case. Prayers and Condolences to Both Families

What is a twenty-year old running around minneapolis with a gun for?! Whats the point? Oh, just in case you get in an accident and get in an argument? Think about how many people get in accidents that end up in some kind of argument whether its because of ignorance or insurance?!
Your "good old tyeric" just murdered a man! Even if it was a legally possessed or registered gun, what do you think the intention was of having the f-ing thing!!!!?? To go deer hunting? DOUBT IT!
Rip Darby- You will be missed!

I've known darby for 12 years, and he was the type of guy to always ask why first. I've never seen him get into any altercation with anyone. He was one of the best guys I've ever known. He would give you the shirt off his back with no questions asked. His daughter isn't the only person that will suffer at the hands of this senseless and selfish violence. He leaves a lot of friends who called him family. And the murderer who decided to walk away and try to flee? think about people, why did he try to flee? because he was a coward and couldn't fess up to anything. All darby wanted was to figure out why they had fled the scene of an accident to begin with, and to get compensation for the damages done to his vehicle. I hope he gets what he deserves, and I hope he rots in jail forever. I hope he burns in hell for what he had done. There was no self defense for this guy, it was just a slefish act, and now he had better pay for what he had done.

I also knew Darby. I cannot provide ANY rationale for shooting someone under these circumstances. The real issue is that there is such a lack of morality surrounding the value of human life...It is a social issue. Do you think that Tyeric may have had a reason to run?? Hmmmm...black young man, driving an Escalade, with a gun...hmmmm...This f***** just wiped out HALF of the entire Claar family. It is tragic and senseless. Who cares if Darby chased him. Tyeric is a complete pussy. I hope he rots in jail (and then hell). To those that are so concerned with Tyeric's family: they should feel responsible for this murder as well. They raised him with no sense of right and wrong, no value for life. They are as guilty as he is for this murder.
Darby's brother and sister loved him unconditionally. The three have been through very hard times together. Darby was all about having fun, but never at the expense of someone else's well being. I cannot say how devastating this is to his sister and brother, and the rest of his friends. He will be missed by all.(I'm sure Tyeric will be missed by the crack head on the corner waiting for his daily fix). Sickening..

Okay. Most of you are typical racist minnesotans. This is definitely a senseless tragedy where two familys are suffering, regardless of race. To Farmington comment: Did you know Darby chased this man to get him to return to the scene and punched him several times, only after Darby and his buddies rammed the other car to get them to stop. The other car stopped and lessley left the scene, he was not the driver, he was the passenger. The driver stayed there in the car. Did you know Darby had a felony conviction for fleeing the police in a mv and several other dwi charges? So if race had anything to do with this, it was at the insistence of Darby and his buddies jumping out of the vehicle and saying "we are going to get us some N's tonight." This is very unfortunate for everyone. No one deserved to die. 911 is a good number to call after an accident, not to run after someone to fight them.

I have known both Darby and his younger brother Jon since the early 90's.

While I feel terrrible for the Claar family having to go through such a traumatic experience... I don't want to express any sort of race-related hatred towards the guy in custody.

Let's face it people, this incident is a sad event for all involved.

Regardless of race of those involved, let's find out the facts before making hasty accusations and race-related (prejudice type) comments.

My hopes are that this event will bring awareness in the community so that it will hopefully deter others from being involved in a similar incident.

Peace to all...

What ever happened to talking out disputes or if you are going to fight about it, what happened to using fists? If Darby threw a few punches (which would surprise me) and lets just say Tyeric was afraid, what in the world is he doing with a gun? And who gives him the right to make the decision to take someones life? Why did he run away both driving and walking from the accident, was it because he had a gun, no insurance, drinking? Darby was most likely trying to get Tyeric to own up to the damage that was caused on his vehicle. This has nothing to do with race, and it sickens me that people use that as an excuse. I know I would feel the same exact way if it was a white man that shot Darby or if it was a white man that shot a black man for trying to resolve a small fender bender.
Just like it is stated above, and I agree 110% with, Darby would have given the shirt off his back even if he didn't have one, so Tyeric would have said "Hey, I don't have insurance" Darby would have most likely worked things out with him but he never had the chance too. I feel that Tyeric will get what he deserves because he had a choice, and he made the wrong one.

All I wanted to say is that I met Darby about 6 years ago... My wife was pregnant with our first child and her car's A/C was not working. Darby was a Mechanic at the time and turned to me and said: " You can't be having your wife driving around pregnant with no A/C in her car"... He fixed the A/C within the next few days - for FREE. He will be missed.

A reply to "time to wake up". You are being racist yourself, by assuming that some white boys in a truck would say "we're gonna get us some N* tonight". The thought process would have been "this ahole just hit my truck that I just spent $3000 to fix up, and now he's driving off!!" Race would NOT have been what they we're thinking about. They would have had the same reaction regardless if they were white, asian, black, hispanic, green, whatever. Please don't make accusations about people being racist. I'm from Detroit (murder capital of the US), and race is seldom brought up in similar scenarios that have happened here. Tyeric is an ignorant fool. Again, he deserves to rot in the pen regardless of his color of skin. He took a precious sole from all of us, and deserves every vile experience coming to him in the clink. Glad you have some compassion for Tyeric - hope you have enough for both of us, as I would not spend one second feeling sorry for him. He's still breathing, and that's more than he deserves from my standpoint.

Typical racist Minnesotans? Thanks very much, but I am quite offended by that. You think you are making an intelligent comment, but all you are doing is stereotyping, which isn't much better than being racist.
Regardless of how Darby reacted to the situation, it certainly did not give the man the right to shoot AND KILL him. I also don't think that the number of DUI's he had has anything to do with what happened that night. I think this is a tragic happening that should do nothing but BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER and help recognize the need for stronger communities. By turning your anger to hate for the person that committed this crime and his family, you are only adding fuel to the fire that created this event in the first place- anger and fear.
I knew Darby, not very well, but I know that even though he made mistakes in his life, he, nor anyone for that matter deserved this. But we need to remember that the best way to honor someone is to do something positive- not to spread hate and anger. Maybe a sort of fund or an awareness group for Road rage or acts of violence could be started in his name, and possible help victims, or even offenders of these crimes. We need to HELP people, not hurt them.

ur FOS (full of ****) There is more to life than just what a personis feeling at the time. Right now i guess ur angry, but when the whole story comes out you'll be embarrassed. Im sure Tyeric was raised knowing right from wrong but not all white people lnow right from wrong if they think about telling the whole story instead of pieces then a fight for ur life is a fight for ur life. Obvious he didnt want trouble he tried to leave Claar followed him.(remember what was that about Tyeric wasnt driving)

I'm just going to make a point. Quit carrying guns. Back in the day, you got in a fist fight. If you lost, you got the shit beat out of you and learned your lesson. Now, any little pussy wimp can carry a gun and be a "big guy". It's the easy way out. They don't understand the repercussions of shooting someone. Also, some "certain people" always seem to be the ones who are shooting and killing other people. While the "other people" are seldom the ones that shoot and kill other people. There is a pattern of violence in that culture, and all of you PC liberals need to understand that. It's a fact. Check out the stats of those in jail, and get back to me on that. Another AVHS grad...
