Well, at least crime will drop in NE Mpls again, like it did last time this bridge was closed. I'm happy for those residents.

HA! Good comment. The county is on a witch hunt after the UofM bridge collapse. That whole fiasco put us on the map for a while. I went up University Avenue the next day and there were several blocks of TV uplink trucks from all over there.

I believe they just repainted the whole thing last year. What a waste of $$. We are going to see many jumping on the bandwagon for new bridges with all the fear mongering out there.

Fear mongering? Witch hunt? LMAO.

Why don't you two put your money where your mouth is and go drive some heavy trucks across that bridge?

The paranoia and suspicion has now reached ludicrous proportions here.

i'll presdict right now it takes 10 years to fix this bridge. It's in Minneapolis see, and their corrupt city works department will milk it for 3 bilion dollars before they're through.

I remember hearing about it being closed las year for paint. I agree, what a waste of money! If they knew the whole thing was going down in 2009, why did they waste the money??

If our house wasn't paid for & we didn't have so much junk to move, we'd be gone from here to God'd country: South Dakota. They don't pull sheeite stuff like this in SoDak. And SoDak is really smart. They get the feds to take care of their roads & bridges. The state has got at least four designated federal highway "trails." The old Yellowstone trail heads west through Sisseton, Aberdeen, Mobridge (which means "Missouri Bridge) onto Sturgis and then to Yellowstone Park. So that big bridge across the Missouri River at Mobridge is mostly fed money.

Then west through SooFoo and on to the Black Hills is fed money. That's Interstate 90. And south to north from Yankton on up thru two fed paths thru NoDak is the Lewis & Clark Trail.

Minnesota taxpayers are at the mercy of corrupt govt officials. Too bad that old crook Jimmy Uberstar didn't jump on the bridge fiasco. But he gets his under the table kickbacks from the airlines as well as the anti-airline group. He needs a roadmap nowadays to cover his a$$.

The other big crook is Carl Pohlad with his losing ballclub the Mn Twinkies. He is trying to get the homeless shelters shut down so the sports fans won't be offended.

There are gonna be so many bridges with Fatal Flaws in the next decade or so. The more populated counties will be especially hard hit(Hennepin and Ramsey Counties)

It is called Minneeeeeesota Democrats.

They see the "Free" money from the State and Federal wage earners and cannot stop drooling over the "Jobs Programs" they can create, to buy votes from the ignorant masses.

Mark my words!

PS ....dont give me the line that there are more bridges here either. The ratio of defective bridges will be proportional to the number of votes that can be accumulated.

Ummmmmm.....

Do you think city or county officials can just "claim" their bridge is faulty and hold their hands out for the cash?

Seriously, I don't know how you people make it through a day. You must be convinced that everyone around you is trying to poison you, or knock you down and take your wallet, or read your thoughts through the TV. lol.

Hey Ger.....look up how much money is spent by various organizations on lobbyists to get "free money" for their worthwhile causes.

Do I think that simply putting out a hand will git money....No. It will take money from the wage earners, spent by the politicians, to do very in depth studies to find justifiable defects to "justify the free money". I assume that you eat at the government trough since you find no issue with how your wealth is spent by others.

Yes, repairing faulty bridge is a "worthwhile" (pork) project. I haven't a clue what you really believe money should be spent on.

Let'em all fall down, just don't raise my taxes! Wanna bridge? Make a toll bridge!

Want your kids educated? Send'em to private school!

Pay for it yourself and keep your hands off of my wallet!

I would like to see the Billy Goat Gruff make a troll bridge. It would be a the simple answer. An entrepreneur builds the bridges. We pay as we go. Simple as a pimple.

Or maybe Beau, Lloyd or Jeff Bridges.

How about a ferry boat? Cheaper. Fun ride. And the TCs have a lot of fairies who would run it.
