St. Thomas is a great school. Many of my friends went there. I wish Cretin hadn't dropped the JROTC program as a requirement for everyone. Cretin should have merged with Derham before they did and kept the old Derham building instead of selling it to St. Paul Public Schools (Expo). Cretin-Derham is just too crowded now. Just think what CDH could have done with both buildings.

So many tuition based schools have had to close their doors or merge over the years for financial reasons. It's good to see one that has survived to carry on it's tradition. It was interesting to read some of the schools history. Never knew they use to train with weapons! Congratulations St. Thomas on 125 years.

They should have merged Derham with OLP and Regina instead of Cretin...oh well, that is another story, for another day.
Bellhops, our former rivals, a sincere congrats on a 125 years and praying for your continued success.

Right now, there is only the Convent of the Visitation open (right next to STA)

However, in the Twin Citie area there were the folowing all girl schools:

St. Joseph's Academy (They were located somwwhat behind the Cathedral. They closed in the 1960s)
Our Lady of Peace (They were on Summit Ave and closed in the early 1970s.)

Regina (over in Minneapolis. They closed in the 1980s.)

Lastly Derham Hall.

Would have been nice if the nuns at Derham Hall would have been dedicated enough to keep the tradition of an all girls school alive in St. Paul.

Yes, Convent of the Visitation High School has been a staple in St. Paul since 1873. Still Catholic, all-girls from grades 7 through 12 and located right across the road from their "little brother" St. Thomas Academy. As an alumna of Visitation, congratulations on 125 years. And may you have many more!!

Could you rephrase the second sentence, it doesn't make sense to people who read.

Yes, Convent of the Vistation School, the sister school to Saint Thomas Academy, is girls-only after 6th grade.

I realize this school has many great things going for it, and educates many fine young men. It would be nice, however, if they acknowledged that their fans' treatment of goalkeepers at soccer matches is in violation of Minnesota State High School League rules. It's not just "kids having fun" or "fans getting involved." It's deliberate harrassment of one player throughout the entire match. I'm no prude, and I've occasionally yelled things at sporting events of which I'm not particularly proud. But the St. Thomas students' behavior is continual and obnoxious, and is supported by their parents, and their athletic director. I'll take public school education any day over a place that condones that.

At Central (Public) the kids go beat up a clerk and rob a store. I don't see that out of Academy kids.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Gemini

It's a red letter day for relationships under the Lunar Eclipse in your house of significant others, because you're facing some important and far-reaching changes to some of them. The pressure has been building since the Gemini Solar Eclipse on May 20. f you've known for some time that things aren't working out, you're about to reach a crisis point as becomes obvious that the present situation can't continue much longer. The coming New Moon in Gemini on June 19 will see progress of one kind or another, though this unusual eclipse cycle will have a far-reaching effect. You may have to be cruel to be kind, or more forceful than you would like, in order to get your point across, but do you really have any viable alternative?
