Football Gophers to be more aggressive on defense

Tracy Claeys will be a man on the move this spring. Claeys, who followed coach Jerry Kill from Northern Illinois to the University of Minnesota to be his defensive coordinator, loves to attend other practices before his team begins spring football in March. Full Story

I do recall that these were much the same words that came out of the mouth of Tim Brewster's first DC, Coach Withers. That proved to be a total disaster in that first year. More aggressive is fine, silly aggressive is easy to counter attack unless you have outstanding speed all over your defense.

As always, Loon, you are completely clueless. Be a man and support this team.

If he isn't going to Hageman on defense, hopefully they'd move him back to tight end where he should be anyway.

The Gophers have always had issues with defensive pass coverage, mainly due to personnel. You have to figure this will continue. One way to alleviate that issue is to get a pass rush. Not sure if they have the horses to get that done, but I'm glad they'll be focusing in that area. Bad defense raise my blood pressure!

Everything I've seen so far lets me know these guys have a plan in place, and they know how to carry it now. I think realistically it will take a few years to get really competetive with the upper echlon teams, but they will get there. Nothing like the last staff at all! ;-) Go Gophers!!

I think everyone needs to get their heads around the fact that we are only going to get better players by winning more games.(Yes, we could cheat but that will not fly at the U.) There is no other way to improve the perception of our program. Well, how do win more games without having better players? Well, that is and always has been the problem with college football, there is no natural parity at all.

We got the new, on campus stadium, the wonderful TCF. That will help. Hopefully we have a more focused, more effective coaching staff, and, I think, our fans and the media will now show this staff the patience required.

The days of all the hype and ridiculous talk are now over and there is a ton of work needing to be done over the next seven or eight or twenty years. But, we need to find a way to win more than two Big Ten games per year. First goal, any bowl game, any way.

Loon, Wow never ceases to amaze me that negative people like you find no good in anything at all. You are not doing the gopher football program any justice with all your negative comments. Have you read about this staff? Have you read their stats, offense and defence? I think not. They have had 14 winning seasons, even taking over programs that had what you consider "not so good" of players they have turned it around. They are not miracle workers but the ARE damn good football coaches!! They have been together for years which is very unusual at this level of play. They are not only loyal to each other but loyal to every program they take over and every player they coach. Mark my words, they will rise to the occasion and they will get their players to do the same! Good luck Killer and staff its going to be a changing year for the Gophers!

Oh, and let me add...... even Tony Dungy, a U of M alumni praised coach kill and said he was confident that him and his staff had what it took and that everyone would see a turn around in the program so one must ask themselves......... Did you get a winning coach? YES you did, and I do believe Gary Patterson would concur!!

You realize that the "The Loon" that put out the post that you responded to, isn't "The Loon" from Chisago City. The one that you responded to is out there just trolling for responses.

Au contraire, fake Loon. Coach Kill looks exactly like Goldy! What could be better?
