Hey Joe: sorry to see you go. We're stronger with you than without you. I wish you success with whatever purified, RINO-free party you finally wind up with.

I Know for a Fact, That the GOP is in the Tank for Bigger Govenment! Remember when the Gov Pawlenty a few years ago, told US all that the Days of Small Government or Over, and Big Government is the future! Pawlenty is the New Darling of the GOP. Lets also look at the connection between Pawlenty and Big Ethanol(corn). Pawlenty mandated that every gal of Gas will have 20% Ethanol in it. Your Car and Lawn Mower will be in the Trash as soon as this happens.

Sorry, Joe; Colin Powell's already become the standard bearer for accommodationism.

Andree Seu writes,

"On a recent tour of Washington, I had a five-minute encounter with Virginia Congressman Frank Wolf, who evidently doesn't do small talk. He opened our conversation with, "Where are the great men?" I thought he was talking about war heroes. He clarified by pantomiming, with two hands in the air, the incremental drift to the left of the so-called Christian and political standard bearers, as all the while they imagine themselves to have held their ground just because the measure of distance between them and the crowd they're sycophantically lagging behind appears to remain constant.

"Colin Powell and Tom Ridge, elusive as water, lacking any moorings that would keep them from drifting down the beach with the tide, want to be "inclusive" and to "reach out" and be "less judgmental"—and, of course, not "shrill," all words they adore and never get around to defining. This is code for "abortion," which is always the elephant in the room. These men are all about saving the Republican Party, a Pyrrhic victory which they vainly imagine will be achieved by giving it up to Tweedledee and Tweedledum.

"Where are the great men?"

Lt. Col. Repya has been a great asset to Republicans and the party blew it. Hats off to the great work you've done, Lt. Col.Repya. Your leadership will be missed. Your ideas for making the party relevant will be missed. Your energy and enthusiasm will be missed.
I too am ready to bail on the party after the latest coronation of the "new" leadership. Not sure which I fear more - total DFL domination or inept Republican leadership.
As one of my favorite radio hosts (Dennis Prager) likes to say - there are two parties: one is dangerous and the other is stupid. I belong to the stupid party.

The OP needs to decide. Is it the party of smaller and less intrusive government, or is it the party of God. The two platforms are mutually exclusive.

Unlike the Party of Open Season on the Unborn, the Republican Party has always been the party of life. Witness this 2008 platform plank, "Maintaining the Sanctity and Dignity of Human Life" -- http://www.gop.com/2008Platform/Values.htm#5

"Faithful to the first guarantee of the Declaration of Independence, we assert the inherent dignity and sanctity of all human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed. We support a human life amendment to the Constitution, and we endorse legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children. We oppose using public revenues to promote or perform abortion and will not fund organizations which advocate it. We support the appointment of judges who respect traditional family values and the sanctity and dignity of innocent human life.

"We have made progress. The Supreme Court has upheld prohibitions against the barbaric practice of partial-birth abortion. States are now permitted to extend health-care coverage to children before birth. And the Born Alive Infants Protection Act has become law; this law ensures that infants who are born alive during an abortion receive all treatment and care that is provided to all newborn infants and are not neglected and left to die. We must protect girls from exploitation and statutory rape through a parental notification requirement. We all have a moral obligation to assist, not to penalize, women struggling with the challenges of an unplanned pregnancy. At its core, abortion is a fundamental assault on the sanctity of innocent human life. Women deserve better than abortion. Every effort should be made to work with women considering abortion to enable and empower them to choose life. We salute those who provide them alternatives, including pregnancy care centers, and we take pride in the tremendous increase in adoptions that has followed Republican legislative initiatives."

I'm not a member of the republican party. I've never been a member of any political party. I vote for the most conservative candidate in the race which has typically been the republican.

I don't expect my views to change just because some people in a political club are having an internal squabble. All I care about is the candidates in the race, not who put them there. If there isn't a conservative in the race, I just won't vote.

No they're not. A conservative is first and foremost a constitutionalist. Constitutionalists defend the provisions of that constitution whether it affects them personally or not.

I'm not a religious person, but I'm a strong defender of the 1st amendment right to religious freedom. That's especially important when the other side is bent on denying religious people their rights, which are just as valid and should be protected with just as much vigor as a gun-owner's 2nd amendment rights, or any other constitutional rights. We don't get the luxury of picking and choosing which people and whose rights we defend. We defend them all.

So even if you're not a religious person you have an obligation to defend their rights to practice their religion against the godless commies who would destroy those rights if they could.

Hey AbortionRecovery.org ,
How prolife is the party that supports the death penalty?
How prolife is the party of a chosen war in Iraq?
How prolife is the party that fails to condemn abortion doctor murderers?
How prolife is the party that would put the life of a mother ahead of a fetus?
You people are such frauds it makes me sick.

Don't tell me, little DemocRATlett. Not links to the David Letterman show!

It would be nice if the likes of Repya didn't just give up, but start something outside of the party. Someone (principled that is) has to be the first.

I am Deputy Chair of the Fourth Congressional District and one of the newer anti-war Republican activists. It's difficult for words to describe how happy I am that you are leaving our Party. The roots of your "neconservative" philosophy lie in Straussian Trotzkyite Communism. "Corporate money" influencing our Party? Nothing compared to the damage your military industrial complex (that Eisenhower warned us about) has wreaked on our Party and our Country.
I hope you will find a happy home among your fellow communists. Your days of endless illegal wars and military industrial complex domination of our party are over.
Obama is ramping up his War in Afghanistan and continues to illegally bomb Pakistan. Perhaps you can join him to satiate your bloodlust.

"Abortion is necessary sometimes"...except he seemed to think that it was necessary in cases of interracial pregnancy. Fits nicely with the current Rethug thinking I believe, except instead of "between a black and a white" you could probably also include "between a Latino and a white."

Somewhere that is a nice middle ground between Paulkook Paleos, seeing Je, er, Neocon conspiracies behind every rock, and the Big Government, Colin Powell Republicans.

I'll check the 4th district off of my list of where that can be found...

Don't bother. There aren't enough republicans in the 4th district to matter. They all moved to the burbs.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Taurus

Get involved in financial transactions at your peril under today's Lunar Eclipse, because certain people will use them as a stick to beat you with. For instance, if you ask someone to lend you money they'll either make you feel guilty about it or dredge up all sorts of past instances when their trust was betrayed. You would also be well advised to avoid any show of possessiveness or jealousy, even if you feel it, unless you truly don't care about the disastrous outcome.
