"The socialist approach of government solving all the problems and controlling industry and controlling finance, that's not the way to continued greatness,"

exactly. it's obama's socialism that will economically sink this country faster than a stone. too bad it looks like americans are going to have to learn this lesson the hard way. why can't dems/libs simply look at [economically] socialist govts from the past & learn from their mistakes instead??

Oh Nonsense! It's like the election never ended, and folks like you have kept up this mindless chant at every turn. You seem more interested in having the country suffer for four more years than giving the elected leadership a chance to turn things around.

Let's not forget that bailouts and gov't solutions to the recent economic turn down started while the previous incumbent was in office, and were supported by both parties. Stop and consider that a republican president in office right now might also be pushing programs to turn things around and get the economy back on track.

Stop playing party politics and think intelligently.

The fact is that Obama is bringing our country to socialism at a break neck speed and all you can say is that Bush started it. Oh brother.

Please explain why the markets and the international community don't think we are going socialistic. This is reflected in investments such as stocks and bonds.

"Pot, meet kettle."

Your twisting of what I wrote is pathetic. Far from saying "Bush started it", I pointed out there has been bi-partisan support for action. Debate about what that action should be is healthy and constructive. Mindless repetition of talking points from any part of the political spectrum is not constructive.

Perhaps comments should stop watching Beck, O'Really, et. al. on FOX Tee Vee. Don't get your talking points from Rush either. I know it must be quite a challenge and somewhat frightening to creatively think for oneself, especially if one is not used to it.

ha! i'm laughing at your incredible stupidity- speaker, cheatos, & planner. hmmm well ok then let's hear it! why don't you tell me about ONE economically socialist country where people are financially thriving? oh that's right, you can't! idiots.

oh and it was our welfare heavy system that really got us into this mess in the 1st place. & then on top of that, allowing ppl with no money to buy whatever homes they wanted (& yeah, that was brought about by DEMS, morons). so spin it any way you'd like to with your sad wishful thinking, but the only thing that will get any of us out of this mess is pure capitalism. but that's not going to happen. and YOU will suffer immensely from your poor political choices, i promise you that! juuuuust wait. you'll see.

and p.s. i don't watch fox news,****-face.

One more time. I would love to know why you think we are, or are going to be socialistic. I sometimes have a very large stake in stocks, commodities, etc and really do want to hear from all sides. Please explain to me why the stock market is up 40-50% from the bottom, US bonds are very popular with foreign buyers making for low rates, dollar off the lows, equity markets seem to be functing again, property prices have stabilized and even gone up recently, etc. It seems to me as someone who has done quite well for the last 38 yrs in my investments that your talk of us going socialistic would cause all these indicators to go in the opposite direction. I'm expecting a pull back soon but will be eager to jump back in when that event is over. What am I missing?

Socialism?...Communism??

Well actually it's more of a Gramscian Marxist takeover of Our Society, and it's been going on for quite a few years.
Do a search on Antonio Gramsci, and his long-term plans for Western socialism, it's all there in black & white.( or whatever color Your monitor is set for..)
That explains alot which has been going on in Our Society for the past few decades, such as illegal immigration, Cultural/Ethnic clashes, the economy, and practically everything in the book as far as the current situation in the US.

As far as the "digging Ourselves out of a hole " comment, it's more like We went from shovels to an Earth-drill in the past year, as it was planned to be.
The "Powers that be" are getting more than a chuckle at the way normal Americans drew sides, Republican/Democrat, and are at each Others throats, rather than Theirs.

Americans have got to dump the two major Party fighting, and vote for the Candidates that will actually do Their jobs, and be OUR Servants, not the other way around, and vote out ALL of the Politicians that either have an agenda, or are paid-off by the major Lobbies.
It's the classic devide and conquer move that's going on here, animals have been doing it since the dawn of time, and it works pretty well.
And it keeps Us busy while the real Players make Their moves, virtually unoticed.

Mc Cain?...I hate Him, and protested many of His events, He did'nt get My vote.
Obama?...the quicker He's out of Office, the better for Our Nation.

We really had only 1 real Candidate that might have saved this country, but Big Bu$$ine$$ made damned sure he did'nt stand a chance.

This is for ALL Americans...not for just one "Party".

Let's all TRY to remember this as the elections of 2010 are drawing near. And for sure in 2012. Not long ago I read a joke. It said all the politicians running for president are promising change to the American people. We send them billions and billions of tax dollars and they send us the change.

Funny? Not really; there is too much truth in it to be funny.

But that got me to thinking... They all promise change.

A restoration that would take us back in time to a place where things ran better, smoother and life was more enjoyable.

Change? That, in truth, is what they have been giving us all along.

We used to have a strong dollar...
Politicians changed that.

Marriage used to be sacred....
Politicians have changed that.

We used to be respected around the world...
Politicians changed that.

We used to have a strong manufacturing economy...
Politicians changed that.

We used to have lower tax structures...
Politicians changed that.

We used to enjoy more freedoms...
Politicians changed that.

We used to be a large exporter of American made goods...
Politicians changed that.

We used to teach patriotism in schools...
Politicians changed that.

We used to educate children in schools...
Politicians changed that.

We used to enforce LEGAL citizenship...
Politicians changed that.

We used to have affordable food & gas prices...
Politicians changed that, too... and one could go on and on with this list.

What hasn't been changed, politicians are promising to change that as well, if you will elect them.

When, oh when, is America going to sit back with open eyes and look at what we once were and where we have come and say, enough is enough?

The trouble is, America's youthful voters today don't know of the great America that existed forty and fifty years ago. They see the world as if it has always existed, as it is now.

When will we wake up? Tomorrow may be too late. When will America realize... Politicians are what is wrong with America ? This goes for BOTH parties... Republicans and Democrats, there is no difference anymore... they all do only what they can to be re-elected, not what is best for the citizens!

What is needed is for the constitution to be amended to limit all Senators and Representatives to TWO terms in office like the President.

Oh, by the way, no big pension either, social security just like the rest of us. How do they rate bigger and better entitlements than the people THEY WORK FOR... WHICH IS US!

Being a politician shouldn't be a person's life work but rather a call to public service then back to being an honest hard working citizen. Politicians are no more than housekeepers and janitors... unfortunately they act like they own the building.

Using borrowed money for a band-aid bailout of the economy should seem backwards to most people. However, it likely is a planned strategy to promote radical change. Those naively believing that President Obama is simply rewarding his far-left base, and will then move to the political center, must wise up.

The assumption that Obama will need the nation to prosper in order to protect the 2010 mid-term election incorrectly assumes that he esteems free market capitalism. He does not. Rather than win through superior ideas and policies, the Democrat plan for success in the mid-term elections is to win by destroying political opposition.

Obama adheres to the Saul Alinksy Rules for Radicals method of politics, which teaches the dark art of destroying political adversaries. However, that text reveals only one front in the radical left's war against America. The Cloward/Piven Strategy is another method employed by the radical Left to create and manage crisis. This strategy explains Rahm Emanuel's ominous statement, "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste."

The Cloward/Piven Strategy is named after Columbia University sociologists Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven. Their goal is to overthrow capitalism by overwhelming the government bureaucracy with entitlement demands. The created crisis provides the impetus to bring about radical political change.

TO BIPARTISAN BILL AND THOSE FOOLS: On the last couple of comments. It is more then that. The trough runs through the governments and their employee fiefdoms that have helped corrupt America. We are in decline. There is nothing that is going to change that unless we live within our means, take our medicine and then start the process of rebuilding things that made us great. That includes using common sense with the resources we have and stop the insanity of special groups controlling our policies. We were sold out by our so called leaders from both parties. We also are in a stranglehold by unions that reward the inept and corrupted. America must look inward and tell the rest of the world to phuc off. Otherwise, with all of our different groups of people, we are looking at civil discourse at some point.

Agreed. American people have been living beyond our means for a long time, it only stands to reason that we would end up here eventually. Things can only get worst until we finally wake up and realize what got us into this mess in the first place. Unfortunatley, many Americans don't have the insight or ability to understand what has gotten us into this mess in the first place and continue to live beyond their means as well as condone the government doing the same. So, now the government is increasing the deficit exponentially and will eventually bankrupt a nation that used to be one of the most prosperous nations in the world. This has been going on for a long time and can't be blamed on any "Political Party" because both parties have been spending other people's money for many years now. We need less government and more free market. Socializing our economy will only make us more like the countries that look to the US for their needs. Once we become more like them, we will have no one to turn to and we'll lose everything.

But, keep spending America! China is "banking" on the day that they come to collect what we are borrowing from them. Let's keep shipping our jobs over there too so that we can further exacerbate our own economic catastrophe to the point where we can't pay it back. We're almost there now. How much will union contracts be worth then?
