Proud parent of MW child

For the person that is upset about the MW kids coming over to Weatherford as a parent of a MW child who chose to stay in MW to play this year please do not judge all kids in MW. Also just because they chose to stay over in their own town does not mean that they are not also top players if you had come & watched some of the games that MW teams had played you would have seen just as much talent on the field. Next year when they are all in Jr High with the combination of the great players MW has a great chance! As I have taught my children a Quarterback, Runningback, Wide Receiver, etc can not win the entire game. It takes a whole team to play. Parents that have their child believing they are the reason for the win need to stop. Just because your child might not have been the one running with the ball doesn't mean they didn't help with the touchdown! Oh by the way, just because the scoreboard might say you win, do you really win a game if not all kids got to be apart of the game? I feel @ the peewee level it is a learning stage. Oh my child is a great person on & off the field for those of you who will say I'm only saying this because my child rides the bench. My child only sits maybe 2 minutes of the entire game FYI.

My problem was not with Mark or most of his staff. My problem was the coaches. My oldest boy was repeatedly lied to. His senior league head coach kept telling him that he would be put in a better position but when the other parents whom he was friends with started giving him greif, my boy was put back on the line so their kids could have his spot. We watched that happen with 2 teams over a 3 year period. My youngest played flag and after the 1st game I saw how the woman that was coaching was going to be. From there on I logged his time on the field for the rest of the season. Even with my complaints to her his total time for the rest of the seaon was 16 minutes. He wanted badly to play this year and it hurt us to say no. Thank goodness, my oldest is moving on to J.H. this year so he will have real coaching. As far as time to help. I work 12 to 16 hours per day and my wife is a full time college student. Half the time she had to study at practice due to a lack of time. We thought about becoming members but with the new president they had this year there was no way that was going to happen.

And by the way. We have tried multiple times since the end of the last season to get hold of the club. We have been unable to get somone to call us back about getting our kids trophies. We had a family emergency and were unable to be at the banquet. My kids still ask me about them. You can bet that for the money we paid this league, I will be there opening day and speak with them face to face about this.

In regards to the new president of the Optimist Club this year, she has done an amazing job in the few months that she has taken over. The number of members have doubled and the whole atmosphire of the club has been very positive. You shouldn't down grade someone until you have worked with her yourself. As to why you couldnt of contacted any of the members. The website and facebook has the members phone numbers on there. I have had no problem with people contacting me. We do have a new football commisioner who has spent many hours and has done his homework on trying to improve the football program in this town. Hands off to the amazing work he has done. I am very proud to be a member in a club that is only going forward and every member is working hard to work together for these kids. I have found that it doesnt matter how hard we try, we will not be able to please everyone but I am proud of the parents that appreciate the things we do. All I can say is things are going great and sorry for your bad exoerience. I have a child in junior high and high school and if you think peewee football is bad you have better get ready for the disappoint when your child gets there. My kids refuse to play football now and after seeing some of the coaches at that level, we arent missing anything.

The optimist club is working with the high school to help improve both programs. After all, the kids playing peewee football are the future MW Rams. Coach Lawrence is trying to be involved as much as he can, along with his other coaches. I am very proud of the high school players who came and helped with the football camp. You would be amazed of how many of them made such an impression on the kids.
