Mr. Kaiman's record as Town of North Hempstead Supervisor may look good on paper, but in reality, with a little bit of study, he has failed miserably. He does not provide the essential services to residents that the Town is supposed to. When residents complain, he ignores what they say, argues that there is no problem and doesn't search for remedies. Under his supervision, the corrupt Town Building Dept. was investigated and several inspectors were charged and convicted with felonies and went to jail. Anyone seeking a building permit can attest to the difficulty they had getting a permit. Under his supervision, the Town's streets are supposed to be cleaned properly. Yes, Mr. Kaiman spent a lot of money procuring street sweepers, but one problem is the Town doesn't have enough drivers for them , so some sit idle. And, he sends the sweepers out into neighborhoods that on the same day as garbage pickup, when the garbage cans in the street prevent the sweepers from cleaning the curb area. Cars also block the curbs, because Mr. Kaiman doesn't think residents should be notified of the sweeping schedule (all he has to do is post it on the Town's website)- he maintains that it's too hard to make a schedule. How is it that there is a garbage collection schedule mailed to every resident's home? When residents complain, he arrogantly insists that there isn't a problem, despite the multitude of complaints and the photographs he's been sent and seen, documenting the problem. Then he brags about the 311 Town complaint phone system he innovated, which has logged thousands of complaints. What's the good of a complaint phone line, if the complaints are ignored? It's time to elect someone as Town Supervisor who is not a career politician, who cannot deliver the "bread and butter" services that the Town Supervisor is supposed to provide. Mr. Kaiman has proficiently demonstrated that he is NOT that person. His opponent, Lee Tu is not only qualified, he has demonstrated that he can listen to residents, engage them in a civil manner, and solve their problems without regards to political considerations. He is not a career politician - he is a local resident who has experienced the problems that Mr. Kaiman has yet to wake up to.
