Looks like he had one too many favorite girls; however, if you know Dan Harvey, you would know that he has a great personality and even though he may come off as over-the-top, he really doesn't mean any harm. I would really like to follow this story and see what the verdict is in the end. He is human, people make mistakes but always remember it takes two to tango, seventeen or not!

People make mistakes? It takes two to tango? Really? As the adult, seventeen or not, aren't you the one who should make the right decisions? And worse, as the teacher, aren't you supposed to create a safe haven? How many children come to school from broken and abusive homes? Isn't school supposed to be an institution that is a safe place? And who is supposed to make that place a safe place? TEACHERS. I am a teacher and I am embarrassed for his actions. People like that make children and parents question the authority and honesty and respectability of teachers. I don't blame them, but I do blame adults like him. A mistake is when you say, "Oops, I didn't mean to do that!" He didn't make a mistake; he knew well what he was doing. He made a very poor decision that will have an effect on many people. I hope that people realize that we aren't all like him or the others that have made that decision to cross the line in their professionalism.

it does take two to tango. the girl knew what she was doing by hanging around, possibly having sex with, her married teacher and telling everyone about it... come on now she knew it was wrong. not saying mr harvey didnt make a really bad decision because he did. but he was a guy you could go to with any problem and he'd be straight forward with you. hes a good person and shouldn't be judged until the verdict is decided.

I am shocked that people are sticking up for this pedophile. I just graduated from Delsea and we all know that this isn't the first minor he's preyed on. This has been an ongoing problem with him. It's no secret and I'm surprised it has taken this long for it to get back to the authorities. As a female student, personally, I always felt uncomfortable in his room. School should not be like that. I completely agree with "Embarassed". He should be protecting his students, not using his authority and power to pick up 17 year old girls.
Delsea is not a dating service. It's a school.
This girl (that we all know who she is) might not think much of it now. But when she grows up and looks back, I'm sure she'll feel like white trash scum for what she did with a 41 year old man. Not to mention a family was broken up because of it.
He cheated on his wife, preyed on a 17 year old girl, traumatized her family... and for some reason people are sticking up for him. Blows my mind.

Oh, and too "Billie Jean"-

You could go to him with any problem? Yeah? I bet that girl could go to him with any of her sexually frustrating problems, too. Great guy. Your right!

okay first of all it's "to" not "too". if you're going to try and make an intelligent arguement at least have correct grammar.
i never said he wasn't wrong or even that he's innocent but he did do all he could to help any student, male or female, who had a problem. may have gone too far with a certain girl, but he could only do that if she let him. either one of them could've stopped it before it started. they're both wrong, but only one of them will be punished for it.

if it actually happened it kinda figures because he always had the typical "sluts" hanging out in his room, girls that thought he was hot so would leave all of their classes and annoy him and the ppl in the classes they came to with their flirting..and he always acted like one of the kids even though he is 41..he was one of my favorite teachers when i went to delsea because he was funny and yes you could go to him with your problems.. i know what he did was wrong but like what many others have said i blame the girl too.. if she wasnt such a slut then it wouldnt have happened..

I am currently attending Delsea Regional. I am a junior this up coming year. The teacher did seem to have his favorite pick of the year. Last year when the summer was arriving, his class had guitar hero, and I walked in with a friend, but the door was shut. There was a senior sitting on his desk, just him and her. She told him to make us leave since we "didn't have a pass". I was a little weirded out. Im not gonna lie, I totally agree. He will eventually get what he deserves. I feel bad for the girl. She was silly for what she has done though. It is also a shame for his family. I'm close with his nephew and son, and they are having a really tough week.

and to everyone saying "it's about time" or that they "aren't surprised", why didnt any of you say anything if you thought there was a problem with this guy? if you didn't feel comfortable in his class why didn't you do anything about it? if you knew about this and didn't speak up then you're at fault too.

Well, I think that Mr. Harvey is a cool teacher. JESSIE NITSCHE (the girl who have sex with Harvey) is just as at fault as Harvey. Regardless of her age, she knows its wrong to have sex with a TEACHER! I wanna know how all this got out in public. I bet that JESSIE NITSCHE got mad that Harvey wasnt going to leave his wife and kids for her skank ass. Don't forget that IT TAKES TWO TO TANGO. She's lucky that she graduated, otherwise her ass would've been tore up by people in the school. Mr. Harvey is a great teacher. I don't know why people are suddenly turning on him. This is all "he said she said" until he is proven guilty. But, if it's true... THAT THE CLASS OF 2009 FOR YA.

I think Harvey definitely pushed the envelope on what was appropriate throughout his career, and should have realized eventually that what he was risking(his entire life and the welfare of his family) was not worth it. If anything good can come out of this, it will be that realization.

However, I do not think he deserves any time in prison or this much humiliation. I have seen 17 year old girls bend over in front of him, stand on chairs in very short skirts and many other inappropriate things. In my opinion he always resisted. I think he should have taken more drastic measures and removed them from his class but there are many layers to the human mind and perhaps this female attention did something for him, much in the way the male attention may have done something for the girl. Neither of them are innocent, but neither of them deserved for an outside source to put such a private and humiliating affair in the public eye.

I knew what i was doing when i was 17 and the values instilled in me by my friends and family taught me well enough that i would never sleep with a teacher.

Woodbury, too?? Let's hope Delsea doesn't send him off to another school to prey on others if he doesn't go to jail. Sounds like this guy's got a real problem and schools aren't paying attention and sending him out of their districts so 'they don't have to get involved'.

Actually, the word is "argument" not "arguement". When you're correcting someone's grammar, you should use correct grammar and spelling yourself.

starting high school, i was one of two freshman to ever be admitted into being able to take digital photography.. taught by mr. harvey. he was without a doubt the best teacher i have ever had. he was my best friend. i would talk to him about my day, what the drama was with dumb girls in school, about new movies coming out, everything under the sun. i got a digital camera and knew digital photography was my thing. i began taking amazing pictures on road trips and it was really my thing. i loved his class so much i took it twice to become a teachers aid. i can honestly say, he was my best friend. not once did he ever try to hit on me or do anything inappriopriate EVER. if anything, he would always say "hey you need to get back to class or lunch, this is my job." yes girls always came around but i NEVER saw him with a girl alone or anything sexual. i was probably in that room more than anyone i know. i know all about his life because we would talk like he was my uncle or a family relative. i would remind him to take his medicine because he is sick. i would remind him to sign out and turn off the computer at the end of the day. i would help with anything and he would help me whenever i needed a recommendation or getting into a club. when i found out about him being accused, it broke my heart. not a day goes by where i don't think about it. i know he did not do it. he never showed signs like that. him and his wife have been having problems, it didn't just happen because she thought he was with a student. it is deeper than that. of course people who don't know him are going to say he is sick and should be locked up. i know him, if there was a way for me to contact him i would. i know he didn't do it and i wish the court could read this and know he isn't a bad guy. just because he is a teacher who the girls do have crushes on, it doesn't mean that he was with one of them. it's one of those wrong places at the wrong time kinda thing. i just hope my best friend is okay and makes it through this :(
