Who are they kidding?? Sounds like they received enormous pressure to greatly diminish the religious expression of the Nativity scene by getting it off of Broad St. so it is not easily seen? Shame on State Auto Insurance for being such weaklings! I guess State Auto thinks that appeasing the atheists is much more important these days. State Auto excuse is so they can "add...other Christmas" decorations? That is a Bunch of baloney. The Nativy is what Made The Display so interesting. We can all visit too much plain old glittery Christmas decorations everywhere else.

Pretty lame excuse. Their next step will be to remove it altogether in a couple years under the pretext that not as many people are viewing it (since it is no longer front and center, but hidden in back corner of property). Sign of the times, I guess.

Chill out, people. The article says that they are also adding MORE decorations to the building. I think it would be fun to be able to get out of the car and get a better look at the scene by walking thru the display.

Sign of the times, I guess. I 100% agree with you that State Auto is going towards removing the Nativity altogether. I imagine first that "Walking among the statues" will have the vandals work their destruction and security costs will be out of State Auto's budget, and so goes the Nativity forever. I am so curious as to how this will all play out, aren't you?

I hope this is not being moved to and displayed in a public park. The article does not say.

I think people are reading too much into this. They're saying that they're adding to the decorations on the entire building, so I would guess that there are still going to be plenty of decorations facing Broad. State Auto owns a nice bit of property on the side of their building where it appears they'll be setting up, which will give them much more space for the display. Unlike the reactionaries who are assuming that this is all some plan to kill the display, what I got out of this story is that State Auto is planning on expanding the display, and given the lack of space available on Broad, they decided to use more of their property. I think that this could turn out very well.

And the other point you are missing is that for nearly 60 years State Auto has devoted up to 140 feet along prime Broad St to display the most central important reason for christianity. Now it is turning its back on that important and enjoyable tradition.

I never cease to be amazed at some of the posts that show up here. Had some of you taken time to read the article (or better yet, had someone read and explain it to you) and look at the map inset, you would hopefully realize that the display is still going to be on Broad Street, but located east of the former location. All that I can figure out is that most of you must have had an extra bowl of stupid for breakfast. Now, please do us all a favor and go slip into something more confortable.....like a coma!

Again, what I got out of the article was that they want to expand the display and that they're going to use the property they own on the side of the building as a way to do it. Of course, the proof will be in what they do this year. Maybe I'm wrong, but my expectation is that they'll still have decorations on Broad along with an expanded display on the side of the building. Trying to look at the display on Broad got crowded, and it's difficult for large groups to enjoy it. Having the main display in an area with more room will make the display much nicer to walk through and enjoy.

You IDIOTS who wrote to criticize the company are missing the point that people will now be able to walk amongst the figures. I am glad they did this, because it becomes more of a meaningful experience to see. And, as people view it closer by, each and every person for that time they are there also becomes a part of the display. Some people just write before they think, I guess. The paper is giving the company a lot of notice, and you know it will be in all the other media in town... so I'm guessing people will go to the display and more will see it as a result.

Funny that so many Christian don't even know what is significant to their own faith.

Depends on if you want to believe the goofy little picture or quote from their own words from the article itself which said, "will move around the corner to a park on the east side of the property." If it was still on Broad that would be the south side of the building and it faces south to Broad St.! So Dopey Crab the display will no longer be on Broad St. And finally, you must have eaten a garbage pail of stupid for breakfast. I apologize but next time you be a little nicer too.

Getting out of the car was never a problem in the past, and the displays were up where they could not be easily vandalized. What will happen is the displays will be vandalized and then that will be the reason that they stop displaying them in the future. This is just setting them up for a convenient excuse. http://guyaverage.blogspot.com

My only concern is parking my car and walking to the park in this area of town in relative darkness. Wonder what type of security. Of course I will have my own CC security.

I will miss it on Broad St. However,I think I will enjoy walking closer and not straining my neck to look up to see the Nativity. My only concern is vandalism. Hope they have security.

By the way have you Noticed how all the wacko liberals are suddenly commenting now?? They can't stand it when people stand up for religios expression and tradition. My judged comments in the begining were all in favor of my first comment, with votes for -- I agree, Brilliant, and now someone at Dispatch is eliminating those votes and only showing the nasty votes. How did they get eliminated? Way to go crummy Dispatch, I caught you manipulating the tallies.
