STOP PUPPY MILLS AND DOG AUCTIONS!!!
If Raber and the puppy mill owners are such upstanding guys, why do they keep the business so hush-hush? If it is so "nice" why do they keep it out of the publics eyes...could they be hiding something? Could it be that mills are not what they have you believe? Have you ever seen some of the dogs that come out of these auctions...scared, sick, injured and mentally destroyed? Has anybody asked Raber or any of the mill owners what they do with the dogs that are no longer making them $$$$? Oh, they die, but how....definitely not humanely. Does ONE puppy mill have any genetic testing done on any of their breeding stock to ensure the healthiest puppies possible?...I think not, that would cut into their profits! USDA inspections...don't make me laugh....their guidelines are right out of the middle ages. I could go on and on....
NONE OF GOD"S CREATURES SHOULD BE TREATED IN THIS MANNER!!!!!

I can't for the life of me understand why these millers have chosen dogs as their newest "livestock of choice". I understand that agribusiness has all but destroyed the small family farm, but taking their farms and making them certified organic, will reap much larger profits, be more sustainable and not cause the suffering of innocent lives. We all suffer from these mills. The dogs do, the dogs in shelters do and so do the taxpayers.
Look at the numbers! Mills are NOT WORKING!

The August 26 auction represented one of the worst experiences I have
ever witnessed. In the absence of a USDA Inspector, 300 dogs were sold
at a cost between $25-$450 (this was very low compared to dogs auctioned
in 2005). The staging area (entrance to the auction in which buyers can
"view the livestock") smelled like a cesspool. Many of the cages lacked food,
water and were covered with feces. All the dogs were scared and shaking, a
very heart breaking. Some of the dogs had been shaved and any experienced
kennel owner could tell by their feet they had been living in urine and
feces. What was most disturbing was the number of dogs who were
immediately registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC) following
the winning bid. I cannot imagine that any of these breeders are
improving the health, temperament and quality of purebred dogs.

My team was awarded several dogs which were initially surrendered by
the auctioneers to Holmes County Humane Society (HCHS), all of which
were in a severe state of neglect. Once such dog, a three year old
Chihuahua covered with fleas, was injured (according to his breeder)
"while being transported". Following a closer examination, his
toenails were found to be so long that they curled up under his hind
leg, causing him to walk with a limp. A Cavalier King Charles,
Daschund and an ACA registered eight-year old German Shepherd (who
was urinating blood and missing a good portion of the lip protecting her jaw)
were also surrendered to the HCHS and then given to various rescues because of
"injuries." Following two months of rehabilitation in my home at a
cost of $1,200, the German Shepherd (aka "Lot 130") was successfully
placed with a responsible and loving family from Columbus, OH.

As a member of the Central Ohio companion animal rescue community,
I've been working very diligently with animal advocates through the
U.S. in addressing this very critical issue for Ohio citizens.

For more information on our efforts, I invite you to visit our
website www.BanOhioDogAuctions.com and read the article "New bill
targets puppy mills, auctions" in the Winter, 2007 issue of The Animal
Insider - http://www.animal-outreach.org/programs/insid... -
newsletter-01-07.pdf.

It is my firm belief that until the public truly understands
and appreciates the cruel aspect - not to mention the corruption
and consumer fraud - connected with "dealing dogs", OH puppy
mills and dog auctions will continue to generate millions of dollars
for their breeders and distributors.

I took a drive out to Holmes County Saturday and it looks like every other farm has a puppy mill, I was disgusted. The pet shops in th eshopping area are gross, the puppies look like they aren't even old enough to be weaned. I was so upset I left one shp in tears asking "why do these people keep this up?" Mr. Raber and Mr. Neuhart are in a for a big surprise from our group, we won't stand for this. We called Mr. Neuhart Friday and every comment was "I'm not talking about this over the phone." if he's not hiding anything, what does it matter. Perhaps the nice letter from our attorney has him a tad bit paranoid? I hope so.
The heartbreaking stories of unsuspecting consumers who bought puppy mill dogs and now have vet bills in the thousands is astonishing. Each story is worse than the next, many of the puppies end up euthanized after weeks or months of agony. Their mommies back at the mill pregnant again with their 10th litter, no TLC, no time out of the metal cage, no one there to cuddle them, no one there to help them through a difficult delivery! These poor dogs are prisoners of greed, I am starting to lose faith in mankind!
Please join me Saturday to have your voice heard. Kristina

These zealots are targeting the Amish, hands down. If they really want to do something, go after the pitbull breeders who breed these dogs for fighting. But they are too cowardly to deal with this, so just pick on the Amish as they are an easier target.

WHAT? We're talking about puppy mills here, not backyard breeders. This is also an issue but unfortunately, it wasn't until a couple of weeks ago that dog fighting was totally illegal in this country and it's not illegal in the State of Ohio or Summit County to breed Pits in your backyard. Start reading and get educated, idiot!

I-d-i-o-t-s target the Amish because they are cowardly.
If you know anything about the Amish, they probably read of this a week later in The Budget and had no idea your ilk would loiter in beautiful Amish Country trying to create 15 minutes of infamy for your cowardice.
