MONTGOMERY, Ala.— A review of federal reports shows that residential customers of Alabama Power Co. paid the seventh-highest average prices for electricity among 21 Southeastern utilities over a recent 12-month period. http://www2.oanow.com/lifestyles/2010/aug/31/... Power reports $190M profit in 2Q
Year to date figures show a rise in profits for Alabama Power to more than $390 million in 2010 compared to $323 million in 2009 – a gain of 21.7 percent. In the last four years the average Alabama household income has only risen by about $30 a year....

Alabama ranks 46 out of 50 in household incomes while the power rates Alabama families pay rank 7th highest in the nation. Susan Parker says she is for the poor and Alabama working families but the facts speak for themselves: Susan Parker even voted to allow Alabama Power to impose late fees on it's customers, includin...g the ones that can least afford it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._sta... )

Commission unamiously approved two rate increases for Alabama Power that increased a typical residential bill nearly $15 a month. And now our power rates are increasing yet again. While the utilities sit on hundreds of millions of dollars in profits, Alabama families struggle to buy food and make ends meet. The Alabama Public Service Commission needs the Conservative leadership of someone that understands the needs of Alabama families not just the needs of big corporations......

That's nearly half a billion in PROFITS for one year! How much does Parker think they need to be healthy?

The power companies argue against 'cap and trade' because they say it will raise our electric bills. What is their excuse now?
