Salsman had a criminal record dating back to 2003 that includes a conviction for third-degree assault and three convictions for creating a public disturbance, according to state judicial branch records. He also had a sealed motor vehicle case that was pending disposition in August. who ever wrote this article should be fired along with the person who allowed it to get printed! there is no need to put his criminal record up. he was a 21 year old kid and your making him look like a horrible person. you could show a little compassion for the family and friends of this young man. im just disgusted by you.

My heart goes out to the unfortunate person that killed this loser. Not only does he have to live with what has happened, but now he has to go through the system to get cleared, and to top it off he will probably have to rent or borrow a car.

I really wish I knew who you are onedown. Clinton Salsman was a highschool buddy of mine and he was the one of the best kids I've ever known. A police record doesn't make you a bad person. He was stealing, or raping, or selling drugs. He got into a fight, something that everyone experiences at some point. Why would you go out of your way to hurt the people who are grieving this horrible loss??... You're a sick person.

A feeding frenzy if you will. When there is a wounded animal the pack goes in for the kill. It is a way for humans to have control, it is a disgusting display and it is seen all over. Sorry to you and for all who are feeling the loss. For some solace, just remember this...opinions are like A--holes, everyone has one.

I just met Clinton on July 5th, he was a good friend of a family member. Immediately I could tell how warm and funny he was, he put me at ease right away, like I already knew him right off the bat. He had a very different vibe around him. He will be very missed, Bonnie ignore what the guy from Stratford said, maybe he knows the driver from Stratford. I'd just like to say no one here pointed a finger at the driver or said anything bad against him...try to have the same respect for Clinton. The case is still under investigation and we don't know all the facts, unless you were there (and even then) just be quiet about blame, please. Let the police handle it and appreciate that we lost a life and many people loved him. P.S. OneDown is it your place to decide whose a loser and who deserves to die? Are you a god? Shut it.

One Down you are an ignorant fool & based on your writing not very intelligent. I knew Clint since he was a young man & the reason he had prior convictions had nothing to do with hurting anyone other than maybe himself. He made mistakes in his life like any young person would & as he got older he was a loving sweet funny 21 yr old kid that made anyone in his path laugh including myself. I enjoyed his smile every day & I feel sorry for all parties involved, it was an unfortunate accident. You should learn more compassion & sympathy because life takes many turns & your life might one day take a bad turn & how would you feel if someone judged you harshly.

Sounds like onedown is just a very angry person. There are a lot of people who are constantly angry at the world. He/she is probably a road rage terror -- angry all the time at everyone and everything. Maybe chill pills aren't covered under his/her insurance plan. My sympathy to Clint's family and friends.

If anyone would like to read an article with less emphasis on his criminal record and touching quotes from friends go to the new haven register site...btw I'm from Milford, not the Bronx, woopsy.

Once again CT Post's less than creative reporting and use of media power to ignite a topic. They must have one eye on the pen/paper and the other on the forums to see what is inciting.

A public record IS a public record. Whether quoted in reference for good or bad, it IS publicly available knowledge and can be stated by anyone. Sometimes that stinks, but that's the way it is…

no one is saying that the public doesn't have a right to know his record, but an article about his death is the wrong place to give out that information. it's basically like saying "some young kid died but it's ok because he was a scumbug". what is the purpose of informing people of the mistakes he's made??... you can look that up elsewhere if your really interested... however I hope most people are more concerned with all the GOOD memories he left behind...

It's leading...It leads the reader in a single dimensional perspective. It is not informative, it is not pertinent to the facts of the story. They were given standard information from public service reps and they had nothing else to write about. It's "Splash Reporting". Crappy journalism at best.

I hated the way the article added his record. For those of us that knew Clint we knw what a great, fun, loving, enjoying life person he was. He always made me laugh, smile or just want to be more relaxed about my life. He was (is) a great friend, co-worker. I truly will miss him. To his mom, dad & sister, my prayers go out to you.
To the woman who wrote the article (I really don't care to know your name), please try to understand the record was not needed to be reported, what did that have to do with anything about his death or the accident.
Clinton was a young man who as a young boy was miss directed. We all make mistakes. At least Clinton find the right path finally. He had a great heart!

No, there's no curfew on bicycle riding, but if you're out at 1:30 in the morning driving in the middle of the road no good can come of that. Not that he deserved it or anything, but it seems everytime something like this happens, it's always at some God-awful hour when average people are home safe in bed.
