Full story: Lebanon Daily News

Sen. Arlen Specter found himself among a far friendlier crowd Saturday night than the one he encountered two months ago on his last visit to Lebanon County.

At one point there were over 70 protesters at Mt. Zion last night.I was there. Spector was late and many of us decided to leave as it was not too safe to be outside there in the dark.

Specter sounds strange to me. He will do anything to get elected. Not all Democrats are for choosing abortion as birth control. Abortion is the murder of an unborn child. I would rather vote for Sestak if I was a Democrat. They said Bob Dole was way too old, so I am thinking Specter is way too old for the Democrats. I also was registered Independent when I was younger (like Sestak) but now am registered Republican, but will vote Democrat if the person is for the people first like Tim Holden. I am praying for this country. I expect lots of nasty comments but that is what freedom of speech is about. It would be nice if people kept foul language out.

I agree with the statement that "Not all Democrats are for choosing abortion as birth control". However I do take offense at how this statement misleads a lot of people. There are many of us who are "Pro-Choice" (which should never be confused with being pro-abortion), that have never met a women who has used 'abortion' for birth control. Yes, I realize that an abortion is a form of controling birth, but I suspect you meant exactly what you said.

My husband and I stayed outside in the cold rain, with 50 or more like minded citizens and gave Specter a send off I hope he never forgets. We have to stay the course, reminding DC how sick we are of their policies, and vote them all out in 2010.

I agree, vote them out and any new candidate must promise to vote for TERM LIMITS ( 1 or 2 terms, no more)no matter whats attached to the legislation, enough is enough.

50 Patriots braved the cold and rain to protest Health care to Sen Specter. That you failed to report it, shows me that your reporting is at best biased. What does it take to wake you up? Certainly we had more for the town meeting. However, when you consider the time(after dark), the place( no place to stand) and the weather, 50 is a very large number for this rural place. I doubt that the number of people inside were much higher than we outside.John Stahl, www.berksteaparty.org . Chairman

Ever been on the main drag on a dark, cold, rainy night where there are no street lights and Maoists - who believe power is found in the barrel of a gun - are across the street anxious to wring your neck?

I heard there was some whack from Palmyra out there demanding to know who had a gun and accusing the protesters of being ignorant because they believed in creationism (like, where did that come from?)...

No, I have not. The worst 'streets' I have been on were in NYC and I did not notice the "Maoists" or rednecks.

No one said the streets in Mount Zion were the worst, just that they were not necessarily the safest due to the weather and conditions.

As for the Maoists, remember this was a Democrat Party function. Need more be said?

And who said anything about "rednecks"?
Please explain

Please explain what it is exactly that makes you and your fellow protestors "Patriots." Is it because you are protesting Spector because he wants to provide people with health care who can otherwise not afford it? Or is just because you "braved the cold and rain"?

And in case you missed it, they did report it in the story that there were protestors outside. Was it biased reporting because they didn't ask any of the protestors for a comment?

Are you suggesting that taking my hard earned tax money and giving it to a bunch of people who have not earned it is patriotic? Are you saying that it is wrong to demand you be allowed to keep your own doctor and your own health insurance?

Fascism is allowing the government to control more and more of the lives of individuals; liberty is allowing people to choose their own way.

Don't try and hide your tyrannical views of life behind 'compassion'. It is unseemly.

I concede I understand about the location and the weather, but it is the maoists and "rednecks" that I am confused about. BTW: You concerns (other then the weather) have the sound of paranoia.
And, I consider people who use guns in the boonies to be rednecks.

Never forget: I am questioning your comment for clarification:
- If you are implying that we are to follow in the foot steps of Jesus in the NT, then I agree with you 100%.
- If you are being sarcastic then I completely disagree.
- If you believe the NT and are being sarcastic toward an unbeliever then I understand.

Got to be kidding: Your first option is correct. We would all be better off if we paid more attention to Jesus's words and actions.

What does Specter have to do with Jesus? Specters a JEW. I don't think he believes in the new testament.

Daily Horoscope for December 28

Virgo

If the past few days have been a blur of cooking, washing up and wrapping paper, take a break today and catch up with loved ones. Have a long talk with one of them so you can find out what they've been doing lately, or discuss a topic that concerns both of you. Right now, you're blessed with plenty of diplomacy so the conversation should go well.
