And I thought NY drivers were nuts, I lived in TN for over 10 yrs now and would still rather deal with gridlock than the drivers in TN.

Well, here is my point of view as far as going when the light changes to green. It is much safer to hesitate for a few seconds (probably feels like a minute to other drivers) to make sure the traffic coming from the opposite direction does actually stop. Then proceed with caution. Too many people run red lights. My life is worth more than other people's impatience. Sorry, don't mean to offend.

I think an intelligence test should be given to obtain a license. this would greatly reduce the number of cars on the road. this also would result in less accidents, smoother traffic flow, and safer roads. if stupid people aren't allowed to drive it benefits us all. I was at a DMV office and one of the people taking the test was obviously high, how he managed to pass the test is a mystery, maybe it was the law of averages, or luck, i dont know. but he pulled out in front of an oncoming vehicle right in front of the DMV. he just drove away, rear end smashed in. seemed like he didn't have a care in the world.

You'd think that with all the little old ladies that work at the DMV offices and the county clerk offices throughout Tennessee, this would be enough bureaucracy in place to prevent anyone from ever getting a driver's license or license plate.

I don't see an intelligence test happening for the same reason why there is little accountability in getting a lottery scholarship: too many people related to Tennessee lawmakers wouldn't meet the requirements.

I've been to Phila, NYC, and a host of other northern cities as well as southern and western cities and several other countries for extended stays meeting the rich, the poor, the educated and the uneducated, and what I can tell you is that people are people. There are nice folks and stupid jackasses spread everywhere. To insult or discriminate against a whole group of people based solely on geographical location is about as stupid as it gets.

How can you refer to them as intolerable yankees and think you're better when you're acting like an intolerable southerner?

There is a test there to take if anyone thinks they can pass it. A lot of so-called excellent drivers just might fail. And I would like to add: hating on outsiders is not the Christian way if that is what you consider yourself. You know who I mean. Try liking people and you will feel a whole lot better about yourself.

The worse drivers are anyone on I-95 near Philly, and a tie of the drivers (idiots) on the Beltway around D.C. You are totally unable to drive defensively while on these roads.. you just hope you get where you are going in one piece... I just got back from TN this past weekend.. I'll take TN and their drivers anyday over the madhatters on the roads up north...even with I-40 shut down and everyone driving like madmen on 640. lol
