VILLA RICA, Ga.-- A routine traffic stop ended with an officer being dragged 60 feet and run over.

That is a traffic go not a traffic stop. It is the left turn that got him. Trying to pull someone out of the window of a moving car is not a good idea but I guess he knows that now. Of course neither is running over a police officers leg either. What all over a little marijuana. If it is less than an ounce it goes on a ticket these days, not that big a deal. But now he has to explain to the judge that he ran over the officers leg. Ouch.

John,Some folks do take their jobs very seriously,Allthough we do not know all the details.I do not think things will go very well for this person who ran over the officers leg. There must have been some of this officers clothing stuck in the vehicle.I am so glad the officer is recovering.Have you heard about Gary Thomas being fired.I know that was not right.A lot of folks are upset about that.I know he had to have much more senority than many others there. He has done a great job there for a long time. The person responsible for that is the one who needs to go.

Bummer for the cop. They later caught the fleeing criminal and I suspect he is going to wish he hadn't made the decision to run.

Yes,He would have been in a lot less trouble,If he had just stoped and been more civil.I hope the police officer is recovering and healing from his injury.Folks should show more respect for Police officers.Thats for sure.

I saw officer Long on the noon news,And he looked good. And was in uniform so he must be back at work.A lot of folks would not return after a scare like that. But it takes special people like Officer Long to keep the rest of us safe.I am so glad you are o.k.Officer Long.We are proud your doing well.

Would you please find the place in the story where it says the cops tried pulling the person out of the window, as you stated?

The police department spokesman stated that the policemen was trying to reach for the ignition key to turn the engine off.
By driving off the driver turned what would have been a misdemeanor traffic stop into criminal charges of multiple felonies.

I am glad that Officer Long is okay, and I hope the guy that run him over get serious time for his lack of regard for human life.

Holding on to a moving car was stupid, but saying he was run over was lying, and that is an integrity issue. Officer Long should be fired and the rest of his department retrained to not stick body into running cars.

Leave it to Georgia to try to make Officer Long into some kind of hero.

You're the one who's lying. The DashCam video clearly shows the officer being run over and it's been shown on the news repeatedly. The officer is severely bruised from the incident but otherwise mostly OK.
It is not police protocol to reach into an automobile. He was attempting to stop the vehicle after it attempted to drive off. Officers do sometimes turn off a vehicle's ignition but it's a risky procedure.
The driver was wrong to attempt to leave and to drive over the officer. He himself admitted he knew he had run over the officer as he drove away. His explanation was that he didn't want to be sent back to prison.

Um, no. The video shows a man running alongside a moving car until he can't keep up and falls down alongside the side of the car. You only think that the law enforcement officer was dragged and run over because he told a lie, and you, like other Georgians, can't come to grips with that fact.

Maybe we just did not have all the correct facts and details. But the important think is that Officer Long is allright.I saw that he was bruised up pretty bad,In the news story yesterday. It is a miracle he was not badly hurt, of even killed.Lets all just be thankfull that he survived this. That is what is important.

The officer was clearly run over. If you didn't see it, look at it again. The punk that did it should be done the same way. It's a shame the piece of trash is still walking.

You're still lying to cover your first lie. Everyone but you can see the car bump up when the back tire runs over the policeman. Time to get those old eyes checked and a mental health evaluation performed to find the cause of your inability to tell the truth.

As long as someone pokes a stick in a hornet's nest they will keep flying.......:-)

Finch isn't blind, he's merely entertaining himself at the expense of those who would reply to him.

The car bounces because Officer Long finally decides to let go of the car (which he never should have been hanging on to in the first place) and take his weight off of the car.

The other part of the equation is a conditioned reflex from posters.

For example, if you are at home and bored, you will wander to the refrigerator and open it. The number of times you have found nothing appealing isn't important because you always HOPE something substantial will have materialized by the next encounter.....

LOL..... The Magic Fridge Theory :-)

You could be right, but don't you find it foolish to repeat the same mistake expecting different results?
