$20,000.00?

I know for a fact that a box of shotgun shells cost way less than that.

Another reason California is going down the drain. A grant of taxpayer money that we don't have, given by an out of control state agency, to a worthless homeless operation that offers no solution except give me more.

What about the "homeless"? Stop doing drugs, get a job, stop begging, have some self pride.

What about the enablers? Stop it!

Here's an idea. How about sentencing the homeless people to clean their own messes up? Why displace the responsibility away from the perpetrators?

By the time the NCRC finishes "managing" the money there won't be any left and the problem will still be there. I agree that shotgun shells are cheaper.
And much more efficient.

I appreciate the article which does a good job of describing the Conservancy's grant and the project. I want to make one small correction, though.
The article quotes me as saying that most city employees don't have the social services training to know how to interact with the homeless. Actually, I don't think that city staff don't know how to interact with the homeless. From what I understand, the city staff who are dealing with this problem are doing a good job at being sensitive and respectful. But I think that it will be easier for North Coast Resource Center staff and volunteers to establish a good rapport and mutual trust with homeless people in these encampments, because the North Coast Resource Center fols either have social service training or have been homeless themselves and know what it's like.
Thanks for printing the article!
