It never ceases to amaze me how people think they're above the law, only to find themself in neck-deep on the wrong side of the law! ICE is great! I hope the Feds take this all the way to prison for the employer!

Not all union members work side by side. We're building a new power plant in NE City, NE. The Pipe Fitters Union turned a company in for employing illegal workers. Unfortunately when the company was investigated the work was completed. Instead of being in trouble, they went to another state with the same workers.

Why can't US citizens INSIST that the laws of our country be enforced. We just stand by and allow this activity to go on and on.I know that our citizens know that US citizens are being kicked out of jobs to allow illegals in.WAKE UP America!!Demand that our officials ENFORCE the laws already on the books!

Look at the games the government is playing with the fence. First it's no, then ok but no funding, then funding, then no funding, then a virtual fence $30million that doesn't work, etc. Now it's the Sierra fighting it and Texas towns and property owners. At lease ICE apparently is on track for now.......

Breaking the law is wrong. but there should be a spirit of compassion, knowing that those people have families, imagine yourself in that position. they should get their status legally, that the right way to do things. every human being make mistakes, Iam a U.S citizen, but we have to look with the eyes of the law and the eyes of the love of Christ

Where in the Bible -- or anywhere else -- does God say it is all right to break man's laws? Matthew 22 and Romans 13 make it pretty clear that we are not to violate the laws that govern our society.

How many times?

Hart-Celler Act hearings 1965 Quote: Senate immigration subcommittee chairman Edward Kennedy (D-MA.) reassured his colleagues and the nation with the following:

"First, our cities will not be flooded with a million immigrants annually. Under the proposed bill, the present level of immigration remains substantially the same ... Secondly, the ethnic mix of this country will not be upset ... Contrary to the charges in some quarters,[the bill] will not inundate America with immigrants from any one country or area, or the most populated and deprived nations of Africa and Asia ... In the final analysis, the ethnic pattern of immigration under the proposed measure is not expected to change as sharply as the critics seem to think."

Sen. Kennedy concluded by saying,

"The bill will not flood our cities with immigrants. It will not upset the ethnic mix of our society. It will not relax the standards of admission. It will not cause American workers to lose their jobs." (U.S. Senate, Subcommittee on Immigration and Naturalization of the Committee on the Judiciary, Washington, D.C., Feb. 10, 1965. pp. 1-3.)

"This amnesty will give citizenship to only 1.1 to 1.3 million illegal aliens. We will secure the borders henceforth. We will never again bring forward another amnesty bill like this."

-- Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy on the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986

I suggest you speak about the "love of Christ" to the mothers of the 4 children decapitated on the school bus in Minnesota by the illegal P U T A who is trying to lie her way out of 4 vehicular manslaughter charges.

Your beloved illegals cause more harm than good in my country and that's ALL that needs to be said.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Cricket 23 Perhaps you should send this to Kennedy? Wonder if his words would also be mis-statements? I'll bet he forgot he co-authored the bill with McCain! In my opinion, the shamnesty wouldn't have happened if we the people had internet and knew the lies behind the words!

Placing the totality of the blame on the 33, is a start, the Contractor, Immigration, Friends...????

Come on, more people had to have known this was illict. Why did this stay hushed? Renter Landlord's should ask more if they have not already done so. Hushed.

Start placing the blame on many fractions to this topic. Then we might make a dent in the solution.

I have absolutely no compassion for anyone entering this country illegally. There can be no excuse for breaking the law.

Should we have compassion for the people smuggling drugs into our country simply because there is a demand for the drugs in America? I am sure the drug dealers have families to support too.

Perhaps the Mexican people should demand more from their own government before invading another country and stealing jobs from its citizens.

Why should we feel a spirit of compassion for them, when they show no spirit of compassion for us? We have families too, do you think they give a damn about that? Do you think they feel guilty; when they take jobs away from the U.S. citizens? Do you think they feel sorry; for infiltrating our good neighborhoods with their gangs, drug dealers, and criminals? Does it bother them; to overcrowd the public school systems with their numerous bambinos? Do they feel ashamed; to have government insurance pay for their health care and medications, while millions of U.S. citizens have no insurance coverage and cannot go to a doctor when sick? This list goes on and on... Where is their spirit of compassion towards us? Tell me.

Part of the problem is a lot of these contracts are contracted out. After having to drop out of full time school and going part time at night, I went to work as a contract security officer for several years and then several more years as an employee of a major firm that would be hired by private and most often public entities (also one of the companies that told Massachusetts that the Big Dig was flawed and pulled out).

I worked in the department that handled bid docs and plans/specs. I got to know a lot of engineers, architects and contractors.

What often happens is a company is hired to help develop the plans for a project. Then all the work is put out to bid. Governments want to save money so they will often hire the general or subcontractors depending on how the bids are being done, that have the lowest bid. It is up to the contractors to hire legals.

Now, a general contractor can hire all legals but have to subcontract out some work. Their budget is often determined by what the people having the job done gives them. Therefore, they often hire those whose bids are lowest. Now, that subcontractor may not be hiring all legals.

It is a trickle down thing but who is responsible for the ultimate hiring? The person getting the winning bid. When economics is talking, what are the governments going to look for? Lowest bid.

Now, lets look at a job we have to contract out due to what needs to be done.

We have had bids from $5,000 -$17,000 depending. Since we are a private entity, we are not taking the lowest bid because something just did not feel right over all.

But public entities are not going to do this. They would look at X had the lowest bid, he can get the job done, this is where we have to go. Try to tell the public that they will have to shell out more money to pay for a bid twice as much as X. Will that fly? No...

So it is up to the companies ultimately doing the hiring to check immigration status of their employees.

Just another side of the story as how we can end up finding illegals on public job sites.

As someone looking for a contractor, should I be responsible for asking the company I hire for all the data on the people that come onto my property so I can use E-Verify? No, I should be able to trust that someone else - like the company - is doing that for me. That is their job.
