Witch hunt?? HAHAHA. You criminal coddlers are something else. Drunk drivers are killers and maimers and i want their license taken away and if caught driving i want them locked up.

So what happens to the cops who end up speeding through an intersection at high rate of speed (eventhough they're told to call off the chase at high speeds) and hit someone and kill them? Do they actually get charged... cuz recently they've been seen as the victims.

When does the witch hunt begin? I want to help!

Whew! I got scared when I saw that headline, but all of it seems to read okay to me. I'm confused about school bus drivers and cell phones. That should be a gimme. They should not be driving and on the phone unless it's a medical or police emergency.

I don't live in Virginia but I think MD and DC should adopt the same laws. Too many unskilled drivers on the roads.

Relax. When gas hits $5,$6,$7, etc., per gallon, the roads will become much safer. In fact, make gas $10 a gallon. I will love it! Driving will become fun again.

Please...do you really think these laws are going to do much to prevent unsafe driving?

1.) Most people only take a driver's test once, when they're 16 years old or so. And the kids are required to take driver training anyway. If they can't pass the test after taking it the first time, what makes you think they'll be any better of a driver after the second go-round at training? Also, no one else will be hit by this rule.

2.) Those who run from the cops upon an attempted stop for a traffic violation probably did something much more serious. They're not going to be any less likely to run just because they face stiffer penalties for it.(i.e. If you murder someone, then run from the cops when pulled over for speeding, which carries the heavier sentence? Fleeing the scene, or murder?)

3. Is the bus driver's radio any less distracting than a cell phone?

In order to really improve the safety of the roads, renewal driver's tests would be needed every 5-10 years, and the test would need to be much tougher and more thorough. Like: here's a patch of ice, drive over it and see how you do; here's a slalom course, how many cones do you knock over. Not just the stupid test now where they're testing whether you know exactly where to stop @ a 4-way stop sign intersection. Sheesh.

Thats actually the best idea. The minimum age should be raised to 18 as well.

So if I drive for twenty years or more never get a ticket or get in a wreck I need to be retested?
I do agree that once a driver hits 70-75 they should be tested or required by their insurance company's to be tested. In fact if you could get lower insurance by going to a eight hour or online refresher course or go to a driving clinic like the have for motorcycles and get lower insurance rates would you do it? I know I would!!

Another feeble attempt for Fairfax county to extort money form its legal constituents...yesterday a cop jumped in the middle of the road to stop the car in front of me (a hispanic man).....he looked from the 1st car to mine and back again and decided he was going to pull me over....I did not break any laws!!!!! Ironic I was pulled over for the "same offence" 2 months ago in the very same spot by the same cop!!!!!!!! hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......the offence is minor and I beat it last time but the cost of the ticket with court cost is almost $300!!!!!!!!! Bastards!!!!!!! They need to be patrolling the neighborhoods and workin with INS.....not pulling me over for some make believe offense,,,,,I took pictures right in front of the cop to prove he was in error....I WILL BEAT THIS ONE TOO!

The law about some cop supposedly dying because some poor lady affraid of being raped or sodomized by someone behind her flashing blue light and making a siren sound as she drives to some lighted and populated spot or a police station is ridiculous and should be repealed unless, like was mentioned above, the cops are subject to the same criminal exposure for murdering innocent motorists as they did to Ms. Ashley McIntosh on Feb. 12, 2008 in Fairfax County, Virginia.
