A Markham woman thought what she considered bad service and bad food at a local restaurant could be remedied by slapping the restaurant manager in the face, police said.
And for doing that, the woman was charged with battery and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors, police said.
Deborah Caposieno was charged with battery and disorderly conduct for slapping the manager of Durbin's restaurant.
Deborah Caposieno, 52, 15717 Homan Ave., Markham, was unhappy with the service and her food Sunday at Durbin's, 14753 S. Cicero Ave. in Midlothian, police said.
The incident happened about 8:30 p.m. according to a police report. Caposieno complained that her steak was overdone and the potatoes were cold. She then got into a heated argument with Durbin's manager Robin Flannery over the matter, police said.
During the argument, Caposieno threw her take-home container with her steak inside at Flannery, according to a police report. She then slapped Flannery in the face, restaurant owner James McAuliffe said.
"Robin called me and said she offered the woman $60 off a $120 bill," McAuliffe said. "But that just wasn't good enough for her. She wasn't drinking or overserved so I don't know what the problem was. But I told Robin if she hit you, you have to press charges."
Midlothian police Lt. Harold Kaufman said that according to the report, Flannery's face was red and swollen when police responded to the incident.

Caposieno posted $100 bond and is due in court at the Markham courthouse Aug. 26.
McAuliffe said in his 25 years of restaurant managing, he has never seen an incident like this.

"I have had people refuse to pay, and you have to call the police and have them deal with it. But I've never had someone just haul off and hit my staff," he said.
Flannery declined comment because the case is still pending.
However, she said Midlothian police handled the incident well.
